so far (few days) this seems to work fine..a little "bouncy" with the arm fully extended, but that's just the nature of it. (everyone may not extend the arm the way I did, but it lets you if you want).

It does adjust to just about any angle you need, and in that way is very flexible in its design (3 adjustments, one for how far the arm extends, a second for tilt of the unit front to back and a third for rotation of the unit, e.g. if the base is not mounted on a spot on your dash level to the ground). The permanent adhesive seems to be working well (the temporary adhesive didn't last in the 100+ degree heat direct sun from our heat wave, but worked ok until it got that hot).

one important clarification to a below review - this unit, Garmin 010-10456-00, comes with the base you need to mount it on your dash. (it's really three parts - the clip for your gps, the rotating / adjusting arm and the swivel base that attaches to your dash). so, contrary to the below earlier dated review, you don't need anything additional for this mount.

however, if you'd like to mount this unit in a second vehicle, you can purchase either a second swivel base (e.g. just the base that sticks to your dask) separately, or the weighted base, kind of a bean bag with the swivel base attached. Both of those are the base only and require you to already have the arm and clip for the GPS which come in this package, but let you buy only a new base without having to buy the clip and arm over again.

The mounting bracket works very well as long as you use the permanent mounting adhesive. The temporary adhesive would not stick to my dash very well. The mount is a little springy when driving if left sticking up in the air, not much but a little because of the weight of the GPS. I solved this by adjusting the mount so that the bottom of the GPS rests on the dash. Once I did this the mount is firm and stable and does the job quite well.

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS COMBINATION!! I purchased BOTH the Swiveling Automotive Mount(010-10456-00) & the 3-Finger Friction Mount(010-10503-01) by Garmin for my GPSMAP 60CSx. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying the COMBINATION. After reading the many reviews warning about using Just the swivel mount, I decided on the combo offered by Amazon. I had been using a cell-phone holder to place my GPS on my dash. THE PROBLEM: every mildly sharp curve, or big bump in the road sent it sliding across(or off) the dash. I found myself holding on to it most of the time. I did NOT even try the swivel mount alone, as it must have a flat, smooth surface to adhear(temporary OR permanent)! SO FAR, WITH THE 3-FINGER FRICTION MOUNT, I HAVE YET TO HAVE IT MOVE!! (I drive a 4-wheel drive Yukon, both on and off-road while Geocaching). VERY ADJUSTABLE! My wife said this is the BEST thing I have bought in a long time, as I don't get mad at the GPS anymore. She said she would gladly have paid $155.00, not the $55.80 it cost just to have the PEACE OF MIND!

This product works as advertised. Holds my Garmin 60Cx in place and arm is fully adjustable to angle GPS towards me while I drive. Mount holds the GPS almost too tightly. It'd be nice if the GPS could be put into and removed from the mount with one hand.

If it was around Christmas this would be the thing to get him or her. Would advise you to use sticky back velcro to mount to dash and not to use the enclosed double faced tape. Yhis way tou can use it in any car or actually anywhere.

Once I was able to confirm that this fit my Map60CSX AND that I needed it for the friction mount I ordered it.

It's simple but versatile. The display on the GPS can be tilted forward/backward, rotated clockwise/ccw and spun on the base. More than I need for my dashboard use. It comes with a peel and stick adhesive piece that exactly matches the dimensions of the base, but I'll never use it; too restrictive, that's why I went with the friction mount.

This dashboard mount is probably the best choice for putting a 60C series Garmin in a boat or automobile, especially in California, where the windshield suction cup mount is illegal.

What I like about the product:
1. At $18~$24 current street price, it's an attractive accessory for Garmin 60C owners.
2. It works pretty good on paved roads. I suspect that it is probably not strong or rigid enough for use on rough gravel roads or when crossing open terrain.
3. Allows attachment of Garmin 12 volt auto power cord and external antenna cable.
4. You can access all 60CX control buttons (but not the battery cmpartment door)

Possible problems with this product:
1. My 60CX is a very tight fit in this mount, which might be good to ensure that it doesn't come loose and fall, but makes me wonder if the plastic can stand up to more than a few dozen cycles of attachment and removal of the GPS before it breaks from fatigue.
2. The mount is all made of a black plastic that looks like it would absorb a lot of heat and damaging UV rays on a car dashboard. Recommend owners of this mount keep it covered with a light colored cloth when the car is parked outdoors.
3. The base of this mount, with it's adhesive pad, requires a clean, FLAT, approximately horizontal surface. It WILL NOT work on even mildly curved dashboards. Make sure your car's dashboard has a FLAT area at least 2" x 3" inches, in a location that will be suitable for mounting the GPS, before you buy this mounting.

If you can't find a flat enough surface, you could still attach this mount with screws instead of the adhesive pad, after building up a flat surface on the dash with Bondo or a similar product. This assumes you have an older car that is already dinged up enough that you won't mind making a couple more small screw holes in the dash.

NOTE: You MUST NOT use this mounting in any place on the dash or steering column where it could be in the path of deployment of any of your car's airbags.

This mount holds my Garmin Astro 220 GPS firmly on my car dash and on my boat and won't let go until I take the GPS out. It seems so strong that extreme shaking would break the GPS before breaking the mount. The two-ball clamp lets you quickly position the GPS at any angle you wish using only one hand; after loosening the screw you can rotate the GPS to some new orientation without it flopping down before you get it repositioned then the loosened clamp holds the GPS where you put it while you tighten the screw. The mechanism for grabbing the GPS, then releasing it, when you apply just the right pressure, works beautifully. The only possible flaw is that the mount made of plastic which sunlight could degrade over a long time on the dashboard. But the mount is so beautifully designed and made that the plastic is probably UV-proof.

This is a great, highly adjustable mount. I was worried about clearance between my GPS antenna and the windshield, but this mount is highy adjustable! It turns in pretty much any way you could want. It is double hinged, so I was able to swing my GPS forward in front of the dash for plenty of clearance. Highly recommend.

This marine holder for the Garmin 60 CSx GPS worked extermely well. Very adjustable and stable in my boat.
