Be aware that this handlebar mount only works with the Nuvi 200 series (which it turns out is stated on the packaging but wasn't in Amazon's description). I tried to get it to hold my Nuvi 360, but there's no way--the clip will not hold the unit if the antenna is open. I'll need to return it to Amazon.

I received a Nuvi as a gift and was impressed with its performance in the car. But, as a competitive cyclist (category 2), I was intrigued at the possibility of foregoing a wired computer for my new road bike. The Nuvi has a screen that displays all of the pertinent information (speed, moving time, total time, max speed, ave speed, etc.) and a battery that will carry me through my longest rides (~5 hours) when the screen brightness is set below 30%.

So, I decided to see what types of bike mounts were available. And, despite the expense of Garmin's offering, I gave it a try. I have been riding with the setup for 2 months now and am extremely happy with it. The Nuvi is not going anywhere when it is locked in to the mount (I have done group rides, road races and crits with the Nuvi locked to my stem). I highly recommend this mount combined with a Nuvi; the combination is more functional than Garmin's bike GPSs at a fraction of the cost. In fact, I just ordered another mount for my TT bike.

Once assembled, this handlebar mount will have two parts, the mount which is zip-tied to the bike, and the cradle. The cradle is supposed to be removable by means of a release lever on the mount, but I had a problem getting it to detach. You might end up leaving the cradle attached and just remove the GPS unit.

Other than that, it works well. I went for a 40-mile ride through rolling hills and bumpy bike paths on my road bike, and it held up fine, never losing its grip on the GPS unit. The only other problem is that my GPS (a nüvi 260) is difficult to read in direct sunlight. But that's not hte fault of this mount, and since the GPS talks and even speaks the street names in English, it isn't a huge problem.

This will work with the nüvi 200 series units such as the 200, 250, and 260, but probably not the widescreen models like the 260W.

Does not fit the nuvi 255W as the width is too short, only fits the NUVI 255. Can't find one for the 255W, so I will have to adapt this to fit the 255W. More information needs to be given in the product description. Way too expensive for a few pieces of plastic and two wire ties.

Having a GPS on my bike is great. When we find a place that we want to go to, I program my gps( Garmin Nuvi from Amazon) to "Bike Mode" and off we go. Very easy to install and holds like a charm. A must have if you bike ride and have a Nuvi.

The Garmin line of accessories is as specific as the GPS models. My nuvi 260W came with an windshield mount that would fit either the 3.5" nuvi 260 or the 4.5" 260W version. The bicycle mount has a cradle that grips the sides of the nuvi and will only hold the 3.5" models. It was not apparent from the image for the product. I have to either buy another GPS unit or saw off the wings on the mount.

I actually bought this item for my husband to use on his motorcycle. It works great and fits snugly on the handlebar. We've not had a problem with it holding the Garmin at all. The only drawback that I can see, and the reason I gave it only 4 stars is because you cannot charge it while riding the motorcycle because the cord would be laying across the gas tank and there is the possibility of scratching or rubbing the paint. But the charge does hold for quite some time, so it could be recharged when you stop for a meal or for the night. Overall, it was a very good purchase.

I like the unit as it holds my nuvie 200 very securely even over very rough terrain. The attachment to the bike looks weak but holds very well.

holds gps well.. wish they used reuseable straps ?waterhose type clamps to secure it so it can be used on more than one bicycle without replacing the straps..

The amazon product description is not correct. This unit only fits the early NUVI 200 series GPS units. It is properly described in the Garmin website. If I had only cross checked, but Amazon is usually better than this. Now I have to return it.

I had it mounted on the bike and it seems fairly cheesey. The latch does not work well in that you have to really press the tab to the point that I know it will break as soon as you use it on a trip and take the unit off the bike daily.
