Product Description

<About Spiky Edge>

Spiky Edge is the hardest wax of the MOVING RUBBER series. Its excellent holding power keeps hair spiked and in place so you can move through your day with effortless style. Spiky Edge is designed to enhance movement even in short hair.
Produced under the supervision of Takako Kato, hair stylist (ROOTS in Shibuya)

Style Tip: Nothing says power like a high Mohawk. Create this look by applying Spiky Edge onto ends of hair and pulling hair in an upwards movement forming a straight line from forehead to the nape of the neck. Pull hair upwards in a sweeping motion by interlacing the fingers of both hands. Remember, over application of this product will result in an undesirable effect.

This is honestly the best hair styling product for Asian hair that I've ever used to date. You can see from my video that it did a nice job of styling short Asian hair, especially on the sides.

FIRST OF ALL, for all those thinking is this really going to work differently than other products I can get, it really does work. I have used many products(expensive gels, axe spiky hair care wax, got2bglued, expensive hairsprays) and I have to be honest and say that none of them compare to what Moving Rubber has done.
If you want a more asian hairstyle, this product will do the trick for you. Is it possible to have the asian hairstyle using other products? Yes you can but this stuff is much more effective. It does not make your hair get hard or anything and doesn't make it have a shiny effect like gel does.(Although the other Gatsby's have more shine to them, e.g. Nuance Motion, Air Rise, etc.) This lets you do pretty much anything with your hair, short or long.
For best results,
1st. Thin out your hair. You can use it with thick hair but it is much more effective with thin or thinned out hair.
2nd. Straight hair works the best. If you don't have naturally straight hair, you can use a straightener. If you don't have asian, hispanic, or just naturally straight hair, don't even try this. If you have African/American hair, sorry this product won't work for you.
3rd. If you want complete control as well as protection, use a heat protection spray(Tresemme) and hairspray after you wash your hair, then straighten it, then apply the Moving Rubber.
Which Gatsby to buy?
Anime / Spiky / Long Spiky - Spiky Edge, Wild Shake, Grunge Mat.
Calmer Asian Hairstyle short/long - Air Rise, Loose Shuffle.
Shiny Damp - Cool Wet.

Works great for my thick hair. Great for sculpting a variety of styles and when your hair starts to lose it's style, just slightly we hands and rework into hair to reactivate the product. Very strong, but flexible. Don't leave the lid off though, it will tend to dry out the product. To alleviate, try adding a small amount of water and replacing lid.

I just received my shipment of Mandom's Gatsby Moving Rubber Spiky Edge. This is definitely one of the best hair waxes that I've ever used. I previously experimented with various gels and glues, only to find that (due to my thin, fine hair) it would make the hair stick in strands and make me look like I was balding. On top of that, it would make my hair look wet/shiny all day and leave flakes all over.

So I decided to make the move to waxes, and again as I said above, this is probably the best one I've ever used. It smells great, holds great, and doesn't make my hair spread out like a gel. This stuff lets you style your hair in amazing ways, and will hold for a very long time.

If you're looking for a good hair wax, and have short hair, I heartily recommend Gatsby's Moving Rubber: Spiky Edge. A sidenote: I ordered two of these, as it was only a bit more expensive than buying just one due to the international shipping charges.

For the price this wax can't be beat. Very good quality wax. I have pretty thick and tough hair that is not very easy to shape. This wax has no problem doing so. Smells good, good texture, good quality and price.

I also have Mandom Gatsby Technical Design Clay and Mandom Gatsby Moving Rubber Wild Shake. All very good quality and you can actually wash all these out of your hair unlike Paul Mitchell's dry wax. If you can't wash the wax out of your hair, that is not good.

Gatsby will be choice of hair products from now on.

I went to Japan in 2006 for study. Immediately my Japanese friends told me that the product I was using at the time was garbage. I was a bit surprised since it was really expensive stuff I had gotten from a salon (which took some pride swallowing to actually buy). My problem then was that American products with great hold left my hair stiff and flaky, and stuff that was softer left my hair slimy and matted.

I borrowed some Spiky Edge from one of my friends there and haven't looked back. When I started sending pics home to my girlfriend, she noticed right away that my hair looked much better. Needless to say, this paid off in a big way when I got home, wink wink.

To quote Ron Swanson "I won't publicly endorse a product unless I use it exclusively. My only official recommendations are U.S. Army issued mustache trimmers, Morton's salt, and the C.R. Lawrence Fein two inch axe-style scraper oscillating knife blade."

Well Ron, if you will try Spiky Edge, you'd have to add one more product to that list. It's better than Snake Juice.

Great for my thick hair. Keeps it stuck in place. Though after is dries you don't want to move it. It gets fluffy and weird if you move it after it dries. But say you wake up with beadhead now waxed into place. Just water it again, comb, and viola! Perfect hair! Don't judge me, sometimes I have to be places soon.

I have fine hair (not thin, but fine) that ranges from wavy to curly on different parts of my head. My hair length ranges from very short on the sides to 2-3 inches long on top. Other products I've used include Sumotech from Bumble and Bumble, Alterna Hemp modeling clay, Alterna hair cement, Sebastian Crude Clay (original), and others. I chose this because others described it as having strong, lasting hold that isn't oily or flaky. I recognize that many of the people who like the Moving Rubber have different hair than mine, so I'm just sharing my experience, not disagreeing with theirs.

I found that it works very well when the air is dry, but when it's humid, or whenever I'm sweaty, it loses its hold and the hair is not reworkable. That said, I've found this to be true of every other hair product I've used (except those that rigidly lock hair in place, such as Got 2B Glue).

One tip: Gatsby Moving Rubber seems to work best with hair that is on the drier side of damp. It must be a little damp, or you can't distribute the product properly. But the hair is too wet, my hair becomes floppy and difficult to style. So towel dry your hair and then do something else for a couple minutes. Then use the Moving Rubber.
