The Gardner Bender Professional Quality Silicone Rubber Guideline Tape provides versatile use as an insulator of all shapes of electrical conductors to 400 volts and as an insulator and sealant of high and low temperature surfaces from -65 degrees C to 260 degrees C, maintaining flexibility and watertight sealing capacities at all temperature ranges. The tape fuses to itself in seconds and forms a permanent bond in 24 hours at room temperature or within minutes of application of a heat source. The tape insulates split bolts, y-splices, and outdoor electrical installations. It temporarily repairs auto radiator hoses, garden hoses, and water pipes, plus it provides non-slip grips on sporting goods and other surfaces. It comes in a 10-foot roll.

This product has so many uses, I have only begun to discover what they are.

I have a steel cane with a rubber-like handle that has started to delaminate. Of course, you can't buy a replacement handle; you have to buy a new cane. I had been stewing over the insanity of our throw-away society, refusing to buy a new cane and living with a handle that was not dangerous, but certainly annoying. Then, I went to the closet to get some packaging tape to seal a package for mailing, and saw the silicone tape. I said to mysalf, "I bet that will work on the cane". Sure enough, it did a grat job of wrapping the handle, but, also gave me a better non-slip grip than what I had previously. I also have a wooden cane which was seldom used because my hand had slipped on it a number of times, nearly causing a fall. I now have a good, solid grip on it thanks to the silicone tape.

I'm also thinking that this tape would be good for sealing the electronics package against water on a radio-controlled boat.
