I purchased this binder because almost everything comes with a PDF file and not a hardcopy manual. I am also finding that I have to rebind books that I have purchased because they are falling apart or coming apart as I turn the pages. This is a solid piece of equipment. It does a beautiful, neat clean job of binding. I would recommend it to anyone who has a lot of paperwork that needs to be in book form or in one place. I used to take my paperwork out to have it bound. Doing it at home is immediate. I read the reviews on a number of machines and had second thoughts about purchasing a cheaper more flimsy model. This is going to be around a very long time. I am very happy with this purchase.

Purchased this unit to replace the smaller C12 unit. Much better in my opinion. The major difference, other than the increased cost, is that the paper is inserted into the punching slot in a vertical position instead of the horizontal position of the C12. This makes a huge difference. The paper tended to crease on the C12 when trying to slide in more than 5 sheets. Not an issue on the C20. The vertical positioning uses gravity and is easier to align the sheets and "tap" then even before punching. The unit is quite heavy for it's size and appears to be very well made. Despite it's almost 2x cost over the C12, I feel it's well worth the added cost. It only takes a couple of incorrectly punched documents to realize this is a much better system. I expect to punch about 50 documents ranging from 20 to 100 pages per month with this machine.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is the first binding machine that I've ever used, and it was pretty easy. I have a number of files I've collected, that I wanted to bind in separate books, of 80 - 100 pages each. Recipes, gardening tips, etc. It's simple and didn't take long at all.

It did take me a few minutes to figure out how to punch the paper, but once I did that it took only 5 minutes to put the whole books together, front and back cover as well. I've used three ring binders for materials like these before and this is so much nicer.

It looks professionally done and is a great machine to have around for when you have binding projects. It seems sturdy and was easy to use. Recommended!

And the thing about the 20 year old one - it still worked just fine. I almost worry about this breaking after years of use - as they say, they don't make them like they used to, but we donated the old one made completely out of steal with almost no plastic. This of course is mostly plastic, but is very well built and has a great color guide for selecting the right comb. It is easy to use and very fast. Highly recommended.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is the first time I've used a comb binder and the instructions were clear and easy to do. There are so many kinds of papers that I organize in 3 ring binders. I loved using this instead. It worked well, takes up so much less space and lays flat (very helpful for recipes or when you have to xerox assignments). It is heavy, well-made, and wider (and obviously taller) than a laptop so just be sure to have space for it. Definitely recommended.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
The CombiBind C20 is a little larger and a good bit heavier than I expected so it doesn't slide around when in use. It neatly punches up to twenty standard-weight pages at a time and makes it easy to bind even large documents. The wide handle is easy to grasp and doesn't require a good deal of pressure, much nicer than the older models with the handle on the side. The instructions are very easy to follow. There were a few chads in the box indicating that the product was tested before packaging.

My only complaint is that some of the markings are a little hard to read but not impossibly so.

Note that binding combs (plastic spines) aren't included since it is important to use the correct size. They are quite inexpensive, however, and are available on Amazon or at any office supply store.

We have owned several machines and they seem to get funky on the mechanics after a while - and you can fix them but they tend to break pretty steady after that first time. This feels like a solid machine and we are heavy users. No complaints

I'm quite pleased with this comb binding system. However, you need to order the plastic bindings in the size you need, so don't expect to start work the moment this arrives! Also, multiple little teeth have to be held down to fit the plastic comb in place, but that's really the only tricky part to master.

This unit is straightforward to use and perfectly serviceable for a small office (or, in my case, a church congregation) -- we're already using it for training materials and large-print hymnal supplements, and it will be wonderful for our member directories and annual reports. It's a darn sight better than a staple at the top of a stack of paper. It makes the document much easier to handle and keeps it looking fresh.
