The bulb in my Microtek Scanmaker E3 Plus scanner burned out after nearly a decade
of light use. Instead of sending it to the landfill, I decided to open up
the scanner and replace the bulb inside. For less than $5, I extended the life of this
scanner. The color range index (CRI), while not as high as the original multi-phosphoro
bulb made by NEC (85), still gives as accurate colors to my eyes.
