I purchased four of these lanterns to place around the house for the next time power goes out for an extended amount of time. I am pleased with the product.

I bought these to use in the trailer when camping without electrical power. They work great for that. I can easily move them around with me and even hang them in or outside the trailer for casual lighting. The light is a cold fluorescent light, but strong enough to read, cook, play cards, etc. They are quite stylish - much more so than any other portable lanterns I've seen. If you use them for emergency lighting, they're pretty enough to leave on a shelf or table rather than hiding them away in a cupboard and having to go look for them in the dark.

I like this product. It is stylist and gives out a great amount of light. Not sure about the battery life but so far I have ordered several to have a few all over the house and yard. Think it is a great item to have for when the lights go out. You could read and function by this light source.

This is really a great product. During the recent power outage in New England (8 days), this lantern was a life saver. It's easy to move around and the battery life is amazing. My wife loves it so much that she's put another one on her wish list for this Christmas. It is great to use on your deck too for a summer evening, looks good and the light is not overpowering. We used this for camping this year too, and were very happy with it. If you're in the market for a lightweight, easy to use, light source, you really should consider this product.

I bought this lantern for my mother, who is nearing 90 and lives in an area with winter power outages. This is the first lantern that she has not tucked away somewhere because she doesn't want a plastic or outdoor lantern sitting out. It's very attractive, fits in with upscale furnishings, and because of that is a guarantee of safety - she's not hiding it away until the power is out and she gets hurt falling over furniture trying to dig the lantern out of a hiding place. It throws a good amount of even lighting out over the room, making it very safe and easy to function during a blackout. I have purchased two more for myself I like them so much and the battery life (if you buy high quality batteries) is excellent. Highly recommended and a great price. GE Mission Lantern

We have a home on the beach in southern Costa Rica and we experience power outages on a somewhat regular basis,this light has seen us through many of those situations with plenty of light to spare.While we have tried many other products we find this lantern to be the most dependible and longest lasting.we bought our first one in Costa Rica and now have ordered these for our home in Fl.

We bought two of these lanterns to use on our condo balcony in Florida so we could enjoy dining outside in the evenings. The lanterns give out plenty of light and are more stylish than any others we had seen. I would definitely recommend them for any situation you would need a portable battery operated light source, especially good for a hurricane supply kit.

All of the other reviews were excellent. So, I ordered one. Just like someone else said the

lantern looks good enough to leave out.

We received this latern as a Christmas gift from friends, came in very handy a month later when a snow storm hit and we had no power for 3 days. I actually was able to read by this latern, and the batteries lasted forever. I'm actually buying those same friends the same latern for this Christmas, would highly recommend

I purchased two of the GE Mission Lanterns and was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. I was concerned about the plastic frame but they appear to be very sturdy. They are an inexpensive and efficient emergency light. They throw a significant glow, enough that you could read in the event of a power-outage. The design is attractive and they are a nice compact size that doesn't require a lot of storage space.
