I have a GE TV with a coax input and a Philips DVD player with RCA and S-video outputs, so I needed an RF modulator to make the transition between the two. I purchased a Philips RF Modulator (PH61159) and despite its good reviews, it was a huge disappointment. When the Philips unit switched over to the DVD signal, I got a noisy pattern across the screen (a series of horizontal lines) that moved in varying speeds. If I picked the modulator up off the DVD housing, the noise got worse. Also, the DVD picture was desaturated and fuzzy. My non-technical wife said it looked "drab."

I returned the Philips unit and picked up this GE unit at Home Depot (sorry, Amazon, I couldn't wait) and plugged it in, and it's fantastic. No lines, beautiful colors. I don't anticipate adding additional devices, so this is a perfect solution for me. (By the way, it doesn't have to stand up; you can lay it on its side and/or hide it behind other components to hide the LED status light, which is *always* on.)

This GE RF Modulator works great for my needs, giving a clear picture and sound. I'm using it from a VCR/DVD player to an old TV.

This modulator works great. The picture quality is good. You will get a little "snow" but it is acceptable. I eliminated practically ALL of the "snow simply by using better cables. Great way to get more use out of an old TV with only one cable connection.

Wanted to share my satellite feed with another TV in the house. New TVs and boxes don't have coaxial outputs, so this allowed me to convert the RCA output to coaxial so I could connect to the coaxial cables to the TV upstairs.

When it is working, the picture quality is good for being an RF device. It isn't amazing clear or anything, just acceptable for RF. HOWEVER (and it is a very big however), this device only works when it senses a video signal. Not uncommon in these types of devices, but this one cannot tell the difference between black video and no signal. So, whenever the video signal fades to black, it cuts out. And it is pretty sensitive to it as well, so in the middle of a video that fades to black between scenes there is a loud pop and the video turns to snow. I would be using this device in a corporate environment to power a few TVs around our lobby, and this completely does not work for me.

I don't know the specs between this product and another of the same type, but it connects easily and the picture looks good. So, my impression is that this is a good product that does what it's supposed to do.

Needed to connect a video camera to a laptop for use as a webcam. This device fit the bill without any trouble.

This is a very good RF modulator and has enough punch to send the picture and audio over 100 feet.

I came to buying this product bc i needed an RF modulator to connect a dvd player to an old television. I did not confide to Wal-Mart because of their cheap quality modulators. I found this one online and i was convinced that General Electric sells good products so i bought it.I have seen some pretty bad modulators before but this is by far the worst thing i've come across. I was dissapointed from the moment i opened the package when i saw that the modulator was a small little thing that looked as cheap as something i see at Wal-Mart. The construction of the product is only the cheapest plastic ever used. To make things worse, i hooked it up to my television and dvd player and found out that the damn thing didn't work. When i plug it into the electric outlet, the power light flashes on but shuts off immediately. It seems like it doesn't get enough electrical current to stay on. A small detail but still enough to piss someone off. So i took it apart and messed with it but couldn't get it to work. I would have send the piece of crap right back if only i hadn't lost my receipt. So now i'm stuck with a cheap product and minus 20. I didn't even bother to put it back together. I might as well would have bought the one at Wal-Mart and returned it if anything went wrong. I DO NOT recommend this product. It is not worth the risk even if you have to return it and pay additional shipping costs. I did not purchase this from Amazon to make things clear, rather from another seller. It does not matter becuase it is still the same product and amazon should discontinue it. I gave this product a 1-star rating only becuase its the lowest possible rating.
