Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

General Electric's 27930GE3 cordless phone combines a forward-thinking design with a number of essential features, making it one of the most popular cordless models on the market. Sporting a three-line LCD built into the handset, the phone supports the caller ID/call waiting services offered by most local phone companies, letting you filter out solicitors and other unwanted callers. It also stores up to 40 names and numbers, so it's quick and easy to call good friends and favorite restaurants. And thanks to its intuitive controls, you can review past calls by date and time and then return the calls with the push of a single button.

To ensure an extended range without jacking up the price, the phone operates on the 2.4 GHz band using tried-and-true analog technology. The phone also employs GE's Crystal Clear Sound with Campandor function and 40-channel auto scan to guarantee a quality reception with minimal static. Additional features include a flashing antenna that gives users a visual cue when the phone is ringing (ideal for noisy parties or when the kids are napping); a low-battery indicator; headset compatibility; and a long battery life (six hours of talk time, five days on standby). The unit measures 6.89 by 8.71 by 2.95 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty.

2.0 out of 5 stars GE 27930GE3 2.4 GHz Cordless Telephone, August 21, 2002

Joe "Joe" (Simsbury, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: GE 27930GE3 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
I bought this phone at Office Max for the same price as Amazon ($$$). The price was good and the phone felt good in the hand. I liked the antenna lighting up - it gave a visula indication that it was working, but I wonder how much extra battery-time it sucks up. The clarity was good as long as you were near the base. BUT, the volume was too low, even at the highest setting. I kept having to ask my caller to repeat what they said. I also did my usual test of going outside and seeing how far away I could go before the signal became noisy. I barely got out the door before I got all this crackling and static. The range was no where near my two other 900 MHZ phones. Back to the store for a refund with this unit. Bottom Line: Nice features, nice price, poor performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of features for the low price, April 22, 2002
This review is from: GE 27930GE3 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
For such a low price (less than 1/2 of similarly equipped phones), I've been very happy with my purchase. I use a headset (purchased separately) with if often - no problems thus far. The display is easy to read (scrolling through missed calls is handy as is the auto dial feature that redials the missed call) and I like seeing the red light when the phone rings...makes it easier to find! I've had no reception problems that weren't solved by simply changing the channel. All in all, I'm quite pleased with it and just bought it again (as a gift).

1.0 out of 5 stars Even though it's cheap....it's not worth the money, March 12, 2002

This review is from: GE 27930GE3 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
Even though the reception was ok, I quickly got discouraged with this phone. I guess it's true you get what you pay for...unfortunately. First the CID screen started getting scratched up, even though it wasn't being mishandled. Then, suddenly, I noticed it would take 2 - 3 times to dial out and get a connection. At first, I thought it was the phone company or my lines on my house. Then one day I just happened to hear what was going on with it. After pressing the buttons on the phone, you hear the phone's buttons emit their tone and afterward you should hear the actual dialing out of the number for the tone dialing setting. Well some of the numbers weren't dialing out and it was random to any number at different times... i.e. #2, #5 and #7...it seems like an odd problem to me. I've had this phone for more than 6 mos at least so I guess I'm stuck with it...so buyer beware.
