5.0 out of 5 stars Everything You Want
This phone has large buttons and a good sized caller ID display even though it is fairly compact in size.If you want larger buttons and larger caller ID display, check out the GE 29569GE1.However I would avoid a similar model:GE 29369GE1 which has a loud, painful echo when you speak!

1.0 out of 5 stars Speakerphone function repeatedly quits working
The speakerphone function in this phone, which is the main reason I bought it, is terrible. Even when it works, it just does not produce enough volume from the other end, and the pickup from your end is way way too weak. If you get more than 2-3 feet from the phone, people at the other end can't hear you. Not much good as a speakerphone. Worst of all, every minute or...

Worst of all, every minute or two, the phone simply quits sending your voice to the other end, and it doesn't start working again until you lift the handset and take the phone off the speakerphone mode. Then you can put it back into speakerphone and it will work for another minute, and then quit again. I tested this in a very quiet room, too. For the techno-minded among you, I'd say the echo-canceling function gets confused, trains itself on silence, and then cancels all your outgoing voice.

Since even when it works, it's junk, I am returning it. You get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone, great price, October 24, 2008
This review is from: GE 29581GE1 Corded Desktop Speakerphone with Caller ID (White) (Office Product)
We needed a phone at our workstation that displayed CallerID. We had looked at several models in local stores without finding what we wanted. We than checked AMAZON, and sure enough we found this phone. It was received two days after we had placed the order. Great service. The phone is compact, but with large number pads. The CallerID display is large and easy to read. It has everything we could want on a desk type phone. And all at a great price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, January 18, 2009
This review is from: GE 29581GE1 Corded Desktop Speakerphone with Caller ID (White) (Office Product)
I wanted a good speaker phone and finally got it. Those on the other end can hear me fine and I do not have to shout. I like the way you can program the phone too.
Good buy for the money.

I use it on my desk and I can continue to work and talk on the phone without holding it.

Everything worked fine the first couple months, then the mouthpiece stopped working. I can hear the other person, but they can't hear me. So, I must use the speaker all the time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Requires 4 AA batteries and has horrible shrill ring tone!, March 30, 2009

This review is from: GE 29581GE1 Corded Desktop Speakerphone with Caller ID (White) (Office Product)
Despite the product description indicating only 2 AA batteries are needed for "backup" the phone actually requires 4 AA for the caller-ID to even work! What a waste.

The ring tone is shrill enough to shatter tooth enamel.

I give it 2 stars for price and appearance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons, March 22, 2009

Pros: Easy to hear and has volume adjustment. Nice, big keys. Caller ID. All at a very reasonable price.

Cons: I would have preferred the phone to sit on the desk at a different angle so I could read the screen easier. I had a major problem with the phone I purchased: It initially only worked on speaker mode. After some experimenting, I found that the cord to the handheld receiver had a bad contact and did not fit into either the speakerphone or the handset properly. Luckily, I had an old cord that I substituted for the new and now the phone works fine.

Other: You need batteries for the caller ID

4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic phone, December 1, 2008
This review is from: GE 29581GE1 Corded Desktop Speakerphone with Caller ID (White) (Office Product)
Needed to replace my one corded phone at home. This one fit the bill. Low price, good sound quality. In use about a month - will see how it holds up.
