GE 35373 Microcassette Recorder

This microcassette recorder is just the right size to fit in a sportcoat inner pocket. With the external microphone jack you can clip a super sensitive mic on the pocket lip. With no auto-stop, there is no "pop" at the end of a tape, but you must turn the tape over to record on the other side. Operation is very easy, even in a jacket pocket, because the record button is easy to find and press, as when placing or removing a paper from the same pocket. So much for descrete recording. Fast forward or rewind is easy because of a separate slide switch. Pickup is good within 15 feet, fair beyond, with the internal and external mic provided. Selectable mic record level for close and distant recording. Specialized mics are available. Overall, a very well designed recorder for varied applications. Be aware of descrete recording laws in your state. For lectures, I recommend the GE model with auto-reverse.

I HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AND AM VERY
PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE. THE CONTROLS ARE EXTREMELY EASY
TO ACCESS AND USE AND THE AUTOMATIC VOICE FEATURE WORKS WELL. THE
BATTERY LIFE, ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT USED IT THAT LONG, SEEMS TO
BE VERY GOOD. (I DON'T HAVE THE OPTIONAL AC ADAPTER). THE ONE
THING THAT I MISS IS A COUNTER BUT THE QUICK CUE FEATURE HELPS.
ALL IN ALL A VERY GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY!

The GE 35373 has made my life much, much easier. I use it for taking the minutes at my weekly writers' group and for various classes. Here's my rundown of its performance features:

Inexpensive
Generally good audio
Great for recording ideas, thoughts, etc. while traveling
Lightweight
Easy to operate
Durable (I've dropped it in my car several times.)
No problems in nearly six months of use

What would I change if I could?

I wish it had an auto-stop feature while recording.

If you have a large group to record where everyone is giving input, it's not great at recording voices from further than five or six feet away.

These are only minor inconveniences. For the money, the GE 35373 is a good investment.

I have a class magazine and I find this extremly helpful for interviews. The only thing I don't like about this item is that it chips very easily, but otherwise I recomend it highly.
