Works great after your realize the 150 feet remote range is questionable. It took us 2 weeks to figure out we had to move the control box closer to the remotes. Works great now and lets us know if either door is open or closed from living room. We don't have to go downstairs to check. Also I didn't realize remotes don't come with control box and had to order seperately after the fact.

The range on this is horrible. My garage door is only about 20ft from the control center and that is too far away. Control will not pick up signal from the sensor. I'm returning this junk.

First the distance is not 150 feet. It is about 20 feet and should be direct site and the antenna is at a certain position. Do not call GE because there is no tech support. I filed a complain with Department of Corporation for false advertisement. If you put the control center in garage you will not hear it. I have a steel garage door and it made a few holes because of trial and error.
I am adding this review: The 20 feet is not very consistent--sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't-- I had to put it right next to the garage motor for it to be reliable. I definitely cannot hear it inside our house.
Update: With the repeater installed, this device does not receive the signal from sensor half of the time. Too bad i lost the packaging, and i cannnot return them. Completely unreliable.

Wireless range less than advertised and multiple units triggering at the same time block each others wireless signal. I bought a second sensor to back-up a first sensor after the first sensor sometimes didn't trigger an alert. I've had the first unit for 2.5 years and it has worked fine until it started failing occasionally, maybe once a month. I put a new battery in the first unit, no improvement. I added the second unit, found it sent a different signal and I could put it on a different monitor circuit. However, I also discovered when the two units trigger at the same time, sometimes neither triggers an alert and both will not turn off the flashing monitor lights when the garage door closes. So I left the original first unit at the bottom of a roll-up sectional garage door and put the second unit higher up about 4 ft-high, inverted upside down and on triangle shaped wood block so when that section of the garage door goes horizontal, the plunger will drop. That works like a charm, in the past month or two, the first unit has failed to alert (usually in the morning when it's cold), but the second unit triggers the alert. I think the position higher up also improves the wireless range. I'm using a signal repeater located just on the other side of the wall from the sensors.

This, along with the main unit that comes with a window/door sensor, seemed to work fine for a short time. I woke one night to see one red light flashing very fast. Thinking I left the garage door open I chased down stairs only to find everything fine. I opened and closed the door again and checked the main unit. Everything was fine. Over the next several weeks, the 2 sensors seem to want to flash rapidly when ever they wish. The doors are closed and secure yet the sensor tells me they are not. I also am now having period where the sensors flash rapidly and then "fix" themselves without me doing anything.

It's well beyond the return period so I'm stuck. I would advise against this product as I will never deal with it again. It is not trust worthy which is why I purchased it.

Have this installed on my garage door which goes straight up and down. Works perfect, only issues is when it's -neg degrees outside, but that's to be expected when the battery has nothing between it and the great outdoors but thin metal. Remember this ge smart choice system has a very short range. Don't expect this thing to go through lots of walls, etc. even with an extender. It's a cheap alarm system for small areas.

I think it is ok except the signal doesn't go through the wall sometimes and I have to unplug the monitor and actually open the door to get it to receive the signal, but for the price I paid I can't complain. I did have to put a new battery in it but that is ok.

This GE Garage Sensor works great and easy to install at the base of any of the typical 3 vertical braces of a paneled garage door, using only two (2) #6-5/8" or #8 metal screws. My suggestion would be to make sure switch plunger 3/4 extended before selecting mounting position of the left-side 2 mounting holes. The right-side holes should be left vacant for mounting an optional Radio-Shack dual "C-size" open battery plastic holder (cat#270-385 @$1.79). When those +red/-blk leads carefully soldered to a depleated +3VDC cell (new cell included with sensor) & some slight lead notching to GE battery cover, the result will basically boost the power longevity x71 of that sensor; being that the 3V/225 mAH cells is now in parallel with two C-batteries at 16,000 mAH. Just have to make sure that using high-watt solder-gun only, using a dab of solder on cell edges, and insure polarities are correct. Then simply slip the spent cell back into its sensor slot, with leads oriented outwards and through the notched cell cover. Then mount C-size battery holder with just 1 #6 3/4-in screw, or more secured with #6 or #8 1-in. bolt, nut & lock-washer.

However! If mounting this garage sensor and the controller(s) are inside, highly recommend purchasing at least one GE-45138 Signal Repeater, using 1/2 of a in-garage 120VAC duplex-outlet, with adjustable antennae (suggest @ 60 deg). Plus the 45138 acts as a good tester: i.e., when garage sensor activates, the LED on the repeater should quickly flash in succession about 5 times, along with LED on the garage sensor.

The alert work ok but sometimes the monitor light will stay on. You have to unplug the unit to reset it. Otherwise it will let you know if your door is open.
