5.0 out of 5 stars Save $100 and do it yourself
My dealer wanted over $100 to replace the headlights in my car. I did it myself in a few minutes. The lamps are as good or better than the Toyota bulbs I replaced. They have a very slight blue tint but by no means are they the same true-white color as HID bulbs.

Update 8/08: Amazon almost doubled the price from a month ago from $14 to $25. Get the two...

2.0 out of 5 stars 4 Months After Purchase and It's Now Kaputt
In mid-January I bought a pair of the GE 9006NHS/BP low beams + a pair of GE high beam Nighthawks for my '97 Acura 3.0CL during one of Amazon's buy-one-get-one-free 24 hour sales. They arrived approximately ten days later, well packed and in great condition. I took the bulbs to my regular mechanic and watched as he installed all 4 bulbs. The Nighthawks were noticeably...

Originally, I was misinformed (by local retail carparts chain) that only changing my entire headlight assembly could fix the very dim, unsafe LOW beams on my `95 Mercury Mystique. I ordered these Nighthawk Sport bulbs (better price & longer life than Sylvania's version), and the difference is ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING! Obviously I had "tired" OEM bulbs (Syl 9006HB4) in before; I simply could NOT use low beams without street lights...always felt blind at night. Now I can see 100 feet or more further; don't need to switch to high beams, and they're not obnoxious to oncoming drivers! It's amazing...these are wildly effective, and worth every penny. Oh, and Amazon's pricing saved me over 25% from buying locally! I'm extremely pleased...I CAN SEE!!...and I would recommend GE Nighthawk Sport bulbs to anyone with low beams that feel too dim.

I guess my OEM Ford bulbs were not too bad because I was not totally blown away with these new bulbs. They work as well as my OEM bulbs and the whiter light helps a little bit. I guess I was just expecting more. They work well. Just not that much better then my originals.

I replaced the bulbs in my 2004 Explorer which may have already good good OEM lamps.

5.0 out of 5 stars GE Nighthawk Sport 9006 Automotive Replacement Bulbs, September 1, 2011

It's just 48 hours with these bulbs, but they are about 60-75 percent brighter than my fog lamps which are stock on my 2002 Olds Aurora. The light is better than expected. Just a bit more blue than the stock lamps, and I speculate that that is part of why they are brighter. Of course they aren't HID's but with a headlamp lens that is clear, they are surprisingly bright. Disregard those reviews that say there is no difference. As long as you have lenses clear of pitting and yellowing, because there is a definite difference.

My rating is 5 stars due to cost +1 and performed better than expected +1. I have not been able to identify any minuses yet. I will update if I do.

I replaced the standard halogen bulbs in my wife's Malibu with these and what a tremendous difference! They are a beautiful clear/bluish headlight and very bright! My wife notices a considerable difference as well and I am very pleased with this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars 4 Months After Purchase and It's Now Kaputt, May 18, 2010

This review is from: GE 9006NHS/BP Nighthawk SPORT Headlight Bulbs (Low-Beam), Pack of 1 (Misc.)
The Nighthawks were noticeably brighter, but not overwhelmingly so. I'd hoped for blue lights but got regular yellowish lights instead (CAVEAT EMPTOR: the blue colouring on the illustrated blister pack is deceptive). Last week, after just under four months of usage, one of the low beam bulbs unexpectedly went out. From past purchases of quartz halogen bulbs for other cars I've owned, I know quartz halogens are temperamental and require special handing during installation. Not wanting to wait for the other low beam bulb to die on me in an unexpected place, I bought a pair of replacement blue quartz low beams (Sylvania Cool Blue 9006) from a local chain auto parts store (kiss an extra $55 goodbye). The replacement bulbs were indeed blue and, so far, have proven to be nothing short of incredible. When my mechanic removed the recently expired GE Nighthawk and handed it to me, it was in perfect physical condition, not a trace of a blister, toasted wire, or errant fingerprint on it. Who knows why it stopped working? In the interim I'm going to leave the Nighthawk high beams in, as I don't want to blow another $55 right now for their replacement. I've been very pleased with other hourly and daily Amazon sales, but after having gotten just under four months use out of the GE Nighthawk 9006, I'll never buy another one of their bulbs again.

I bought them to replace the bulbs on my Camry, it took only a few minutes to install. Worked like a charm, they seem to be a little brighter than my original ones, I only had them for a few weeks, don't know how durable they are, but so far so good. By the way, I got them when there was a promotion, buy one get one free, very good price.

I first installed the left side bulb to see if there was any difference, and what a difference there was! A whiter light that shined further & wider down the road. I immediately switched out the right one and tossed the old bulbs. I don't know how long these will last compared to the Sylvania, but so far so good.

I ordered these thinking they would make a significant improvement in night driving visibility. They don't for me and other members of my family. The light is definitely "whiter" but none of us - including the younger drivers with young eyes - think its an improvement over the OEM lamps. One driver thinks it actually puts light less effective light on the road. These are just our opinions about one brand of these lights. The other brands may deliver much better performance but for our money, these are not the answer.

This review is from: GE 9006NHS/BP Nighthawk SPORT Headlight Bulbs (Low-Beam), Pack of 1 (Misc.)
Don't waste your money on GE bulbs! You would be very lucky if they last six months. Wagner or Sylvania are a much better by even if you have to pay more. I have found that Sears has Wagner bulbs much cheaper than the parts stores. Don't wast your time going to Wal-Mart, they only carry GE lamps. Don't buy GE unless you really enjoy replacing headlamp bulbs!
