Fan Continuous/Cycle Switch ineffective,
By Skipmuckid "Ret ElecTech" (MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: GE AJCQ08ACC 8K BTU Through-the-Wall Cool Only Air Conditioner ESTAR
Bought the 10,000btu unit but I'm sure this mode is engineered the same.
If you use the A/C in the Continuous fan mode (most window type A/C units use this mode) the unit works fine and is recommended.... BUT If you want to use it in the Cycle fan mode (most whole house units use this mode) the unit doesn't work correctly due to the thermister (temperature sensor) NOT sensing room temperature because room air is needed to operate the sensor correctly and cycle mode doesn't initially run the fan to pull room air into the unit. The sensor can lag several degrees (8-14) behind actual room temperatures. Needs engineering enhancement, like a remote thermostat, to work correctly. GE actually blow me off as to a fix, so I'm stuck with a unit that doesn't run in cycle mode and isn't worth a hill of beans! Loading... |
