3.0 out of 5 stars good phone except...., February 4, 2009
This review is from: GE DECT 6.0 Advanced Silver Cordless Phone with Goog-411, CID, ITAD, and 2 Handsets (28223EE2) (Office Product)
Just like the other reviewer, after a few days of installing the phone it began to have disconnect problems between the handsets and base. If it happens to one handset, it happens to the other as well. The remedy seems to be to unplug the power cord from the base unit then plug it back in. But sadly, the unit doesn't ring audibly when it's locked up; there are only visual indicators.

The phone's manual actually states that if the handsets lock up, then unplug the power on both ends, and remove and replace the batteries if this happens. So it's a known issue. Ugh. As far as I can tell, it happens randomly, and does not self-correct.

The bright red bar of light on the bases is too much. I've covered them with tape.

Otherwise though, the phone seems good. Battery life has been long if anything (8 hour calls). Sound is clear. Actually, one more thing is it can't be wall mounted, though the manual doesn't know this fact.

I'll be happy with this phone unless the disconnect issue ultimately has no remedy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it!, December 28, 2008

I've had this phone for about 6 months and did not return it to the manufacturer because I got rid of the box and the receipt not knowing I would have problems with it. The battery life is awful! It does not charge well (sometimes I pick up one of the phones and it dies in less than 10 minutes). I am actually checking out reviews on other phones now to replace it.

Don't waste your money!

2.0 out of 5 stars Would be a great phone if it did not Auto-Disconnect, January 12, 2009
This review is from: GE DECT 6.0 Advanced Silver Cordless Phone with Goog-411, CID, ITAD, and 2 Handsets (28223EE2) (Office Product)
I purchased this product from another retailer at a great price, and was happy for only a short while.

The plus side: Great range, clear calls, excellent speakerphone, easy to use and set up, answering machine works fine.

The very bad: As other reviews on the internet have stated, this phone appears to have in inherent issue of losing connection with the base randomly and quite frequently. What does this mean? When you press the TALK button, it randomly might sound like a fax is transmitting, or there may be no dial tone at all. To fix, you must bring the phone to the base station, and use its menus to reestablish a connection. Not bad if the phone is near the base. A major pain if the phone is in a remote room. Also, when the phones are "disconnected" they will not ring, although the answering machine will pick up.

I had read the other reviews and figured it may be a random glitch that only happens to a few units. After my experience and troubleshooting, it seems the issue may affect all phones in this line.
