These are decent but not great,

This review is from: GE Dect 6.0 Black Corded Base Phone with Caller ID, Digital Answering System, and 2 Cordless Accessory Handsets (28871FE3) (Office Product)
The Phones have several flaws. The base has a funky echo sometimes, the callerID is always wrong, assigning past caller's names to phone numbers at random. The phones feel funny, too small to hold comfortably.
Clarity is good 90% of the time and the microwave and other appliances in the house no longer effect phone calls as with non-DECT phones. I would not buy these again.

Works well with Magicjack...,

Well, for MagicJack users this phone is one of the ONLY digital phones I've found that sounds good enough to keep. I tried several different models including some much more expensive ATT models which all sounded HORRIBLE with MagicJack (and by horrible I mean literally unusable). I was VERY happy with the quality of the inbound/outbound audio on both the corded phone and the cordless phones - even in speakerphone mode. To be fair the phone is a bit quirky but I haven't had any of the problems described above. Little annoyances abound like when the phone loses power you have to reset the clock on the base unit TWICE - once for the answering system on the base station (if you have the FE3 model) and secondly for the clock on the base station display. Im not sure what the rocket scientists at GE were thinking on that one. Also, there is no way to sync phone books across phones which is a nice feature if you have kids (because you can keep your lists separate) and truly annoying if you don't. Also a clearing of the caller ID list/last called list only clears the log of THAT particular phone - there is no way to clear all of them at once. Programming and operating the phone is also a little more button-intensive that I would prefer but I'm a techie so I'm used to buttons. For example, clearing the caller ID log on the base station involves the following keystrokes: press caller id button, press menu/ok button, press up arrow twice, press menu/ok button twice. Seems it would have been easier to just create a single button to do this for gods sake rather than having to press 6 buttons. Despite these annoyances, I cannot in anyway knock the sound quality through my Magicjack and because of that reason alone it is a keeper. It has performed flawlessly in that regard, has had NO compatibility issues with Magicjack and the range on the wireless units is very, very good. It looks good too in my office next to my other silver and black accessories which is nice. I hope that's helpful...

Hi! We are pleased with this phone set because 1) sounds are clear with no interference, 2) the sets are light and comfortable, 3) the system works as stated in the instructions, and 4) it's a great value. The base unit takes some time to get used. The caller ID works fine. The other users may have misunderstood the directions. If you read them carefully you'll have no problems. I'd buy this unit again.

Cordless handsets sound muffled and distant. Buttons are cheap and have delayed reaction when you press numbers. Just a pain in the butt low quality phone system. Was hoping to have cordless and corded phone for when the power goes out. I am bummed and will be returning this.

It does everything it claims, but there seems to be no indicator light for voicemail. That's not a problem if you use the standard answering machine anyway, but it can be sub-optimal if you use voicemail.

It doesn't work,
By D.L. (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews Shortly afterward, I noticed that the phones would cut out while I was talking to someone. Also, the caller ID will give me the correct phone number of the person calling, but list the wrong name. It shows a name of one of the previous callers. This is driving me crazy! Of course, it is too late to return the phones for a refund. I tried calling Thomson Industries, but they are no help. They told me to unplug the unit and then plug it in again. This did not work. I then tried to contact them by email thinking maybe they would understand the problem better. They told me to call them, that they do not help by email. Of course, they don't have a toll free number to contact them. That makes it hard for me to call them. I have to pay for the call! I think that is poor customer service! I just placed an order for a new phone. It is not a GE nor RCA. I don't want to have to deal with Thomson Industries again!

This is a quirky phone. The caller ID is never right. With certain calls the phone will emit a clicking noise during the conversation that is very distracting. I have had several callers complain how bad the phone performs. After 4 months of use I can't stand it anymore and need to invest in another phone.

I have suffered with this GE phone since buying it. I got it with a gift card, so while it makes me feel bad I wasted gift money on it, the mistake isn't as painful as if I had paid the $100 myself.
The call quality of the CORDED handset is fine, but that's about the only thing going for this phone. The wireless handsets are cheap, and the batteries are already dead in both wireless handsets after only 6 months, the call quality on them is horrible. The batteries are $10+shipping to replace. So $40 a year in batteries...yikes! MANY callers have complained that they hear clicks, and clacks, and beeps on the other end. I sometimes here a dead silence when this is happening on the remote end and all I can do is cringe and wonder what parts of the conversation either them or I am missing at the time. I believe this to be the poorly tuned squelch of the phone as it attempts to cancel noise, but it fails in all respects. I conference call alot so this is a huge issue. Multiple other reviewers also mention this as an issue so it's a common problem for this model. The speaker phone amplifies these problems. It clicks and clacks, and beeps at random on the remote end and is is basically unuseable. I sit in my quiet home office so using the phone shouldn't be any major task, but this phone just can't get the job done. I at first was blaming all these problems on my phone carrier, but I switched carriers...twice...and the problem follows the phone. I've given up on it and am going to sell it to some other sucker to try to recoup some of my dollars.

I like the look of this product, but the sound quality and overall construction needs improvement. The battery life is good for about a year, after that the cordless phones do not hold a charge for extended periods of time (anything over 15-20 minutes).

This phone works great if the caller ID is wrong it is also wrong on my caller ID on my TV, my PhoneTray and another cordless phone. Those who are having problems might want to call the phone company and test the caller ID. The only thing I do not like is it does not have a back up battery so you have to reset the time and date every time the power glitches. I bought an other one for my mother in law and she complained that the ring tone was to low. I found it was user error, the wring tone was actually turned off in the base. Dusting the phone caused that problem. intercom is great feature, when I'm working outside I can call the house(3 acres)and see who is calling when rings. I hope other people read the instruction manual a little further.
