Appearances can be deceiving,

This review is from: GE Corded Slimline 29253GE1 Phone (Office Product)
From the picture on the box, I thought this was a "traditional" slimline phone where you run the base cord from the wall jack into the base then the handset cord runs from the base to the handset. Instead, the base cord and handset cord is all one unit, which is not what I was looking for. The "base" cord only has 2 pairs, which I realize is what most people need if they only have one line in their house. I use this type of phone to test analog lines at my business, so I often need a 4 pair cord.

Phone Can't Be Taken More Than a Few Feet from Phone Jack,
By jeanbur (Oakland, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: GE Corded Slimline 29253GE1 Phone (Office Product)
This phone has some pluses and minuses. On the plus side, the sound is very clear. The volume is adjustable, with settings at low, medium, and high. Also, the volume of the bell is adjustable, with settings at off, low, and medium. (The specifications say the last setting is high, but I'd call it medium.)
However, the phone cord leads directly from the phone jack to the receiver, and that makes a problem. In most phones, there is a cord from the jack to the base and another cord, which is coiled, from the base to the receiver. This gives you the option of using a long coiled cord so you can take the receiver across the room. This phone uses only one cord, which is coiled for the last foot. It is 7 feet at full extension, and there isn't any way to substitute a longer cord. So if you're talking on the phone, you can't get more than 7 feet from the phone jack. I am disappointed in GE that they don't make this clear on the box and in their product description.
