This phone would rate 5 stars, except that the volume control doesn't raise the volume noticeably. The sound quality is excellent, however. In fact, I keep replacing our other land phones with this model.

I guess you get what you pay for. An inexpensive phone that works but has a few issues. The display is very dim to see the call waiting or dialed number. have to look real hard to see it. Slow dialing. Not a comfortable phone to use for long conversations as my wife would say.

This phone performs all functions as advertised. Quality is superior value at a modest price.

I have had several of the GE Model 27831 and 27923 Cordless Phones. They are inexpensive. The sound quality is fair to good, and not excellent. Still a good value if this phone meets your needs.

The cost of the phone boxed with battery and base station is not much more than the cost of a replacement battery. When the battery goes, I buy another phone set and get both a new phone and a new battery! I then keep the older phone as a backup. I've had two where after using for over a year, the keypads failed. Perhaps they've improved the keypad failure rates on current design, as I have not had that problem in over a year.

The phone's sound quality is not the best. That's the trade off in price. There's often some static when going more than twenty feet from the base station. Changing channels did not reduce the static. However the sound quality is adequate for my occasional use. I would not purchase for heavy use as a business phone due to the static, and for important calls I still use an older AT&T handset wired to the wall, as that sound quality is crystal clear with no static or distortion. Don't expect crystal clear sound quality for this inexpensive cordless phone. That's the trade-off between price and quality.

Upon turning up the speaker volume, feedback is often present. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up all other sounds in the room. Suggested improvements would be a more directional microphone and better shielding for RF noise interference to reduce static.


If you're expecting crystal clear sound quality you will likely have to spend more for a higher quality phone. If you want an inexpensive phone with fair to good sound quality, this model may do it for you.


I've found this GE model to be a good value for a basic cordless phone.

This phone went dead after about four and a half months. The user's guide does not say how or where to apply the warranty.

The display is just bad. You cannot see the numbers you type or the caller Id's number. Otherwise the phone works. It's cheap.

This phone has all the basic features we wanted. It has a nice feel.

I like the phone. It was easy to set up and it's easy to use.

This phone had all the features I was looking for but had a alot of static in the line. I tested other Jacks and cords in the house and it still had noise. I've purchased another phone (Radio Shack) and it works perfectly.

I looked and looked for a phone to replace my one that I had for 10 years...and after reading the reviews I thought I would try this one...and it's great...I had so many problems with other phones that I tried not being able to hear the other person..this one is loud and clear.
