Its all about the price, Home depot wanted for one filter what I paid for two on Amazon, what a savings.

We've had this unit for over a year now - it has several advantages over other past units we've owned, the biggest being you don't need extra valves installed to turn the water off to the filter before changing it! Changing the filter is a snap, literally, even I can do it, and it only takes about two minutes from opening the box to putting the old ones in the trash. Put it in an accessable place, we use about two filter sets a year. The water quality is clean, clear and has no chemical taste that I've noticed.

Bought these for my smart water system to replace the GXRLQR filters that seem just about impossible to find (for a good price). The form factor is exactly the same. However, if you look at the top of the filter, you'll notice that the inlet hole is much larger on the FQSLF filter than with the GXRLQR filter. This initially caused some problems with my filtration system. The hoses started to rattle and the water jetted out of the spout, only to become aerated, then dwindle down. I closed off the cutoff valve for the filter, undid the filter, then re-engaged it. Next I opened up the spigot and slowly opened the cut-off valve. I stopped when I got sufficient flow though the spigot. So far, it seems to be working well. If it continues to perform as such, I just found a cheaper replacement for my filters!

GE makes their replacements kind of confusing. You have undersink replacements with the FQSLF, you have inline with the FQSLF, and the fridge ones with the FQSLF. Ordering is an extreme chore. They like to stop producing certain models - and then you end up having to wonder which replacement will fit your system.

These ones fit well for my older model undersink filtration system. The value beats anything in the store and the shipping was quick. These also last six months, so much better than using a brita filter! :)

I replace the filters last month, it's easy to change by hand with no tools. But the filter only last 2 weeks & the water come out in a tiny stream. I have to fill up a 2.5 quart tea kettle in half an hour & no more water coming out after 3 more days later. GE said the filter should use for 6 months or 1200 gallons. I think I should have less than 200 gallons of filter water from this filter. So 40 dollars for 200 gallons of water is too expensive for me. GE should inspect & check their product. I think I should change to other brands of water filter in the future and never buy any more GE water filters again. I strongly not recommend these filters.

I have owned the GE filtration system for over 5 years now and replace the filters about every 6 months. I had not previously been able to locate these filters for less than 35 dollars anywhere. Additionally, there were only a few retailers that carried this model filter in stock with regularity. Amazon to the rescue. Same filters, for less money. Also, if you are on the fence about purchasing a GE water filtration system, don't be. I have very hard well water, very iron rich, and even with a softener the taste wasn't ideal. The water coming out of this GE system tastes every bit as good as bottled water.

These filters works perfectly -- our water is "city water" but it tastes... well it doesn't taste like pure clean water.

However, after installing this filter system (pretty easy) and drinking filtered water we can definitely notice the difference. It's a pleasure to drink this water, and not have to spend more money on bottled water from somewhere else. (Think about it, isn't it silly that people drive to the store, pick up a pack of water that's been driven cross country (or around the globe) from somewhere else, when there's a pipe bringing it to your house for pennies?

I don't know if we're saving any money (have to replace these once every 6 months), but there's definitely satisfaction in drinking purified water that we didn't have to take from some other part of the world.

The nubs inside the filter (that are supposed to push open the valve when inserted) are not large enough to open the valve when the filter is completely engage. Clearly a manufacturing deficiency that GE won't admit to, or do anything about. Don't buy these here. Go to HD or other local store where you can return them quickly if you get a set of these defective filters. Google it, you'll see that others have had the same problem.
