I bought this product to make SKYPE phone calls. It sure does its job well with SKYPE. However, using the phone for just a regular landline phone call has been unsuccessful. It turns out that the quality of the sound is garbled and unclear even when the volume is turned all the way up. I believe it is a defect and GE should address this problem. If you are using this product for SKYPE primarily, it is a good buy. Definitely not for the regular landline use.

The fact that this item is not a stand-alone product was not disclosed. It will not operate unless you purchase a compatible Base unit such as the GE 28300EE2.

So - disappointed when I eventually opened the box (past the return deadline). Reminded of my disappointment when I found it in my garage a year later...unused.

works really well with skype. you have to know how to set up the audio. but once set up it really works great.

I got this phone with the one that connects to the computer and the phone jack. I can use either phone with my land line or my skype at the same time.
The only problem that I have is that some times when I open applications on my computer, the program that that allows skype to communicate with the phone closes, so I have to open it again.

Difficulties setting up with Windows Vista and server. Updates from Windows disabled the phone software, now doesn't communicate with Skype.

I agree with the others. When speaking on skype its fine however with the landline people tell me I sound low, garbled, slurring and so on. I would not reccomend this phone for landline calls

I bought this phone (base and 2 handsets). The quality is reasonable - not as good as Siemens or Panasonic. The Skype integration is excellent. The problem though that prompted me to return the phone was the voice quality on certain landline calls, where the voice would weaker and louder for no clear reason. This made this phone difficult to use.

I have since bought a Siemens S455, which has outstaning voice quality. In there is a USB adapter called USB M34 (not yet available in the US) to channel VOIP calls to the Siemens. I don't know if this will appear in the US, but especially then my preference for the Siemens is very clear.
