GE JX81D Recirculating Charcoal Filter

I don't have an outside exhaust on the vent above my stove. The old vent had only grease filters while the new GE vent also has room for a charcoal filter. Great idea, but the filter is tough to find. Good thing Amazon has a partner that sells this thing. Also, it is pricey for a simple charcoal filter, but it was expensive everywhere else i looked, so the vendor was not overly high priced.

It does the job of filtering, but for such a small filter the price seems crazy. Amazon did a great job of delivery however. 2 stars for the price, but 5 for amazon.

Couldn't believe when we bought our new over the range GE microwave that it did not come with a filter. Also couldn't believe that you cannot buy the filters in any stores. Found it online with Amazon and ordered it. Arrived in 2 days and installed same night. Took less than a minute to install and appears to fit and work fine.

The part goes where it is supposed to fit. It does make a noise when the unit is turned on or off. That's a design problem with the microwave not the filter.

First, filter as received had several points on the thin metal frame where it looked like it was bent and then straightened. Second, it does not fit. The best I could do was to leave it leaning in the cavity where it is supposed to go. Additionally, the hole is approximately ½ inch wider than the filter leaving plenty of space of air to pass without going through the filter. Additionally, when removing the cover, one of the two tabs that hold the cover to the oven was found to be broken. Since this was the first time removing, I can only assume it was broken during manufacturing or shipping.

We bought the GE Cafe Advantium 120 Above-the-Cooktop Oven (Model #: CSA1201RSS) in September and have a non-vented exhaust. The owner's manual states that the kit is required for non-vented exhaust installations. At first we thought we had been shipped the wrong filter kit but once we read the owner's manual all was good; see page 22 of the owner's manual. Installation took a few minutes requiring only a screwdriver and a chair to stand on.

Purchased a new GE micro convention oven and had to buy the filter separately. What a great thing that it was on Amazon and the reviews of "other filters" that said some did not fit was a great help.
