I researched on the net for GE phones before buying this product. Most of the phones had very bad reviews over all. This one had 3 stars based on very few reviews. I bought it because it was inexpensive and worth try.

Pros- low price, good looking, many functions - answering system, digital, speakerphone, ...etc.

Cons - with volume set to the highest level (5), frequently could barely hear people talking. I had to ask people to please talk louder, which is never a good thing. After buying it, I found someone else who has the same phone. They told me that they had the same problem and remained unhappy with their purchase. I gave it to a relative who needed a phone.

I bought this phone on sale at a store. It might possibly be the worst purchase I made in my life. First you cannot hear the person you are speaking with too well. But I was willing to overlook that. What really makes it the worst phone ever was that after a few weeks I couldnt use it more than 5 minutes without it dying. Maybe the one I bought was a lemon, who knows. The reason I bought it was because it was really a pretty phone and matched my shiny computer. Boy, what a mistake that was. I definitely do not recommend buying it. Oh and that google button is useless and annoying.

Not totally sure why I bought this phone despite the poor reviews. I would advise others not to make the same mistake I did. I was turned on by the "battery back-up" feature but this appears to be a lie as the phone does not function during a power outage. Main issue with this phone is that the sound quality is just awful. I believe they are trying to drown out background noise, but it just makes the calls sound terrible and awkward and constant voice cutoffs. Look elsewhere, there are many other phones that work better for the same price or less.

The phone book records on this phone continually get corrupted. You will lose numbers and get dozens of duplicates of numbers entered; there is no way to correct this. Don't buy this phone if you want to store numbers.

Sound quality is lacking and if you intend to use an earpiece, the volume climbs and drops during dial tone, dialing and talking. You will be removing and reinserting your earpiece to avoid the painful volume differences.

If you think this is a GE product, that does not seem to be the case. This item is manufactured by Thompson (Indianapolis, Indiana).

This is a not a well designed product. As an engineer, I advise you to pass on this item. I have several other similar devices that have none of these issues.

I don't really use a house phone that much, but decided I needed a replacement right after my Motorola went for a dive. After shopping around for about a day, I simply decided this one was it. Yes, I read the reviews. Still, I purchased it at my own risk and don't regret it. Phone looks awesome! Sound quality is great. Battery life is excellent. I left the handset off the base and used it moderately for three days. Could have probably gone longer, but didn't want to push it. Haven't really tried out all features, but the Goog-411 is great. Really like the ring tones as well. Distinct and plenty of them. I'll admit I chose this phone mainly based on the design and great value. I wanted the DataLink version, but didn't really like the design as much. I also checked out a few Uniden, Vtech, Panasonic, and Motorola units, but decided to give this one a try. Before my Motorola, I had a G.E. and really liked it. I'm glad I purchased another G.E. phone!

I bought 4 of these from OD on a sale. The standby battery life on the phone I bought was 12 hrs. I called GE a day afeter I bought the phone and told them of the poor performance and they said they could not do anything as the battery is not covered by the warranty! So, I took the phone back and will not buy another GE phone again.
The phone itself worked well when it was not in the recharging station. The Google directory service was a nice feature that worked very well.
