Light Bulb Not User Serviceable, February 28, 2011
This review is from: GE Profile : PEB1590DMBB 1.5 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave Oven - Black
I bought this product despite bad GE experiences simply because there were limited choices for a unit that could be "built-in" and the GE reviews were not as bad as the competitors. That said, with infrequent use over less than a year, the light bulb failed. Guess what? It cannot be replaced by the user. Even worse, it requires removal of the oven if the "built-in" kit is used and removal of the product case in any event. That's right, pull the oven, take it to a dealer, leave it, spend big bucks, wait while they order the special $20 light bulb then make another trip to pick up and re-install. I cheated, bought the special wrench to remove the case and ordered the light bulb thru the Internet for only $17. What a lucky guy! The microwave and convection work O.K. but should since I spent over $500 for the unit and the "built-in" kit. Using GE service if one replaces a bulb annually, one would spend $1,000 over 10 years to keep the light working--such a deal!

Some clunkiness, but it works, August 12, 2011
This review is from: GE Profile : PEB1590DMBB 1.5 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave Oven - Black
We were surprised to use the microwave function of this oven and see the interior light and front panel display dim visibly when one of the internal fans started. Fan speeds vary audibly as this happens. Food, however, was heated properly, and the manual makes clear that this behavior is normal. We like the sensor cook features on this oven. We have used the convection oven feature only once so far, and have found it does not bake as rapidly as an ordinary oven.

Poor design re. replacing light bulb, April 28, 2011
This review is from: GE Profile : PEB1590DMBB 1.5 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave Oven - Black
I agree with GPS guy. When a part that has a limited lifespan such as a light bulb requires a trip to the dealer for replacement, this indicates extremely poor design. There is no reason it should not be user replaceable. Being stubborn, I pulled my unit, cut the tamper-proof (hah) screws on the back and removed the case only to find a special design bulb that I am still trying to find a source for. Thumbs down to GE for this. No excuse.
Otherwise the unit works OK.
