Geoff makes a great move without The Distance.,
By A Customer
This review is from: GEOFF MOORE (Audio CD)
After listening to this new CD I was taken back by the depth and searching that many of the tracks on this new CD. Gone is a lot of fluff seen in some his previous CD's and in place is a soul searching, Gospeling reflecting group of songs. In a much mellower GM than we have heard of lates, we can see the influence of his friend SCC. The lyrical and musical quality is seen here in this work. I was a little worried in buying this CD, but am so thankful that I did.

I haven't stopped listening to this CD since I got it. Musically it's very good, but I was most impressed with the lyrics -- they are easy to understand, but contain a lot of depth and will make you think. Geoff is thoughtful, humble, reflective, and thankful throughout all the songs. It's also good to see the continued friendship between Geoff Moore and Steven Curtis Chapman show up in "Thanks to You". All in all this CD is another reason that Geoff Moore continues to be one of my favorite artists.

Geoff Moore & SCC Together!!,
By Lee Hethcox (Honolulu, HI United States) - See all my reviews

Geoff more did an awesome job on this album, with a little help from his friends, definately including Steven Curtis Chapman! Together, as in 'Thanks to You', those two are a smash hit! I recomend this album, but also Geoff Moor's albums when he was with The Distance, because they really gave him the acustic backround he needs. Geoff has a great voice, even better in concert! Slightly husky, and soft at times. If nothing else, get this album for his and SCC duet!

This is a killer CD. Wonderfully written songs, well crafted lyrics, and amazing production (same producer as Chris Rice, Watermark, etc...). Geoff is obviously a seasoned pro at this music thing. I'm always amazed why a CD this well done doesn't get more radio airplay. I'm a musician, and this is a perfect example of how I would want my CD to sound. Buy it.

Geoff Moore always delivers a great mix of ballads and rocking tunes which magnify the Lord. He hits home again with "String Around My Finger." This self-titled album is a great introduction to this CCM talent who has been around for years. In comparison with his last offering with his band The Distance (Threads, Forefront 1998) Geoff is missing some of that simple edge that the band was so noted for. Not to worry, though. On this solo effort the gentle strains mix well with the upbeat offerings. And as always, Geoff teams up with Christian Pop king Steve Curtis Chapman to tickle the ears with "Thanks to You" a number that has a variety of levels--friendship and a relationship to God not the least of these. We look forward to more of this talented artist in future days.

Geoff Moore is filled with passion, love, and is blessed with a beautiful voice. I liked most all of the tracks on the CD, and especially Track 5, Thanks to You (w/ Steven Curtis Chapman). I bought this CD after going to the SCC concert and hearing him. I recommend this CD to anyone.

I got this CD Yesterday and I have been listening to it non-stop. The Lyrics are great and Moore is great on his own. He has a song called 'Through It' that says we can not go over, under, or around problems... We have to go Through them with Jesus.I reccomend this CD to anyone and everone. In addition, Geoff Moore's sound is a bit like Steven Curtis Chapman, but unique.

After 14 years together, Geoff Moore and the Distance went their different ways. Now Geoff Moore has embarked on a solo career. For those of us who were fans of the old group, this self-titled first solo album is a bit of a shock. Gone are the rock anthems that defined the "Distance." In its place are songs that are much more laid back and subdued. I'm not quite sure Geoff Moore has found the style that will suit his new solo career, but this album is a great start towards that end. From the middle of the road songs that are included on this album, two of them really push through. The first is a duet with Stephen Curtis Chapman, called "Thanks To You." These two have been good friends for a very long time, and this song is a testimony to that friendship. The other great song is "Boy Like Me, Man Like You." Written and originally sung by the late Rich Mullins, Geoff did a great job of taking this song and making it his own. Although he was obviously still trying to stand on his own feet after all those years with "The Distance," this is still a very good CD that is worth adding to your collection.
