This review is from: GEORGE S. KAUFMAN AND HIS FRIENDS (Hardcover)
Mr Meredith has taken on an overwhelming task in this book - biographying Kaufman, his collabrators, his producers, his Algonquin round-table friends, and the two decades of American theater that Kaufman dominated as a writer and director. It's a thorough entertainment and revelation at the same time and I have been unable to put it down.

This review is from: GEORGE S. KAUFMAN AND HIS FRIENDS (Hardcover)
I finally had the opportunity to read this wonderful book almost 40 years after it was written. It is a marvelous description of an era that is long gone. One can see George Kaufman as he appeared on television in 1952 on This is Show Business on youtube. He seems every bit as satirical and wry as the person described in this biography
