I've been using this knife for going on a decade. Currently, I own 3. One for work, one for home, and a spare just in case. Lightweight, easy to open, has a pocket clip, and the serrated/straight edge combo can get through a lot. It's a tough and well-engineered knife.

I have gone through 3 of these over the course of 15 years and I am about to order number 4. I had one of the older ones with the solid blade, not the skeleton type. I liked that one best and wish they still made that type. I lost it in a movie theater 10 years ago and I still miss it to this day. I bought another one and lost it somewhere in Appalachia. I bought a third one and loaned it to a friend who offered to sharpen it for me before returning it. When I got it back the handle was severely damaged, like he had tried to pry it apart or something, but I got another 5 years of use out of it before it finally broke. Even so, the blade is still in excellent condition, razor sharp, and I will keep it for spare parts. It's one of the most useful tools I have ever owned. I never feel right without one. It is slender and sits nice and flat in your pocket, which means it's comfortable enough go everywhere with you, which means you will always have your knife when you need it. It flips out smoothly, locks tightly, and keeps a nice edge. Every other comparable folder I have tried has been too bulky or heavy compared to the E-Z Out. This knife just feels "right" and I highly recommend it.

This knife is a steal. It's affordable, durable, and sharp. The blade doesn't come out by accident and it moves smoothly as it locks in place. The blade is the best part. Before I gave this to my girl scout girlfriend, i tried it out on cardboard, which it cut through like butter. One of my girlfriend stalkers tested the blade out trying to prove it wasn't sharp. After seconds of just lightly pressing the blade on his skin, he was bleeding all over the local Starbucks. I LOVE THIS KNIFE!!

Gerber makes excellent knives! Thanks to the clip this knife sits comfortably at the edge of my pocket for east access. The E-Z out description is very accurate since I can open the blade with one hand. The blade is very sharp and the serrations make cutting rope a ton easier! Excellent knife!

Very solid knife. I use mine everyday for work. Rubber finger grips keep knife in hand wet or dry. Lock release is in a great position...hard to accidently press under use. Strong blade. Stays sharp for a long time "excluding concrete and metal"This knife won't let you down. Good job Gerber Knives!

I've owned two of these and have been very happy with them. I had to give my last one up at an unexpected security check point, a very sad day. The other had a broken tip from when I tried to pry something open (a poor decision on my part - the blade is not meant for leveraging). The blade is easy to open and stays sharp. I really like the partially serrated edge for quick cutting. It's comfortable to keep in my front pocket and easy to open/close with one hand. It's a perfect pocket knife.

Good Knife,
By I am an avid camper/hiker, and this knife was nice. They didn't bother with a big bulky grip, and put a good solid clip on it. The result was a knife that you can stow anywhere, even on the strap of a pack, or in your pocket. It's relatively light, and keeps an edge pretty well. After a few wet trips I did notice the blade starting to oxidize, but a little WD-40 and some elbow grease got it off. The tip eventually bent, but I am very hard on knives. All in all this is another knife that I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, but I like trying new products.

This is my fourth E-Z Out. So far I love it as much as my previous Gerbers. I have carried an E-Z Out in one form or the other since 1996. The only reason I have had to replace them is due to loss or loaning them out, never to be seen again. The price is great and the quality compares to knives costing twice as much.

My favorite pocket knife design!,

I have carried a knife of this design for over 17 years. It is an outstanding quality knife and my oldest one (A model Gerber 450, 1995 Production Run) looks new after 17 years of carrying it. Gerber stainless is the best and the knife holds an edge well. I like the easy open one hand design using the thumb oval hole in the blade and you can open it with either hand. I have big hands and the handle is large enough that I can securely hold it when working and I like the Kraton rubber inserts that improve your grip.Locking blade knives are the safest as the blade will not accidently close on your hand while you are working. I love the serrated edge to cut tough items but yet you still have the smooth edge of the knife for more precision work. I carry mine in my pocket but it does have a stainless steel belt clip on it. The 3 ½ inch blade is the right size to work in the yard, garage, hiking or hunting with and yet still carry in inconspicuously in your pocket. It is lightweight but big enough to get the job done when you need a full size knife.
