I must say that after receiving this flat iron I went to use it and was loving it till I looked at the digital thermostat. As I was flat ironing my hair the temperature would decrease, so I thought there was something wrong with my iron. No where did I ever read that this iron would do that. So I thought I was going to have to return it till I went to a friends house who happens to have the same iron. She has short hair and it didn't do that to her, I happened to have long hair and hers did the same thing. Long story short I then realized that this iron just decreases in heat if you are running it through long hair... I still love it though! Just thought you might like to know this info if you have long hair...

I ordered the CHI Turbo 1-inch flat iron two days ago, and have used it twice. It gets the job done, if used properly. I sprayed the CHI 44 Iron Guard on my hair to protect it from the heat - and I used the flat iron immediately on the wet hair. Results weren't good, as my hair smelled burnt all day. The second day, I sprayed the CHI 44 Iron Guard all over my hair, then made sure my hair was thoroughly dried before trying to use the CHI. The results were great, no burnt smell. I have straight hair, but it poofs during the summer because of the heat. The CHI gets rid of the poofing! You can also curl your hair with the CHI (instructional videos are on YouTube). It takes a bit of time to learn, but I got great results. I've read reviews claiming that the CHI breaks within a year or so - I hope mine lasts! The digital readout is terrific, as the exact temperature is displayed clearly.

My daughter and I have both owned several cheap $20 to $30 straightening irons and they have always died after about a year or so. When her last one died in December, I decided to try a more expensive one hoping it would last longer. I purchased one very similar to this for her. I had never been dissatisfied with the performance of the cheaper irons until I borrowed her CHI iron one day. What a difference! Being the frugal person that I am, however, I couldn't justify buying one for myself because mine still worked.

Mine died a couple months ago, but my frugality kicked in again, and I thought I would try another cheaper iron. I got one that claimed to have the same features as this one and came with a two year warranty. It worked ok, but while traveling out of town a few weeks later, I again used my daughter's CHI iron. Again I was amazed at the difference in performance.

The clincher was an interview with the owner of this company on CNN. Apparently, he is a naturalized U.S. citizen and has made the decision to keep all of his company's manufacturing in the United States. How could I not support such a commitment to our economy? In the end, I got a better product, I got to support a great company, and I got to support the U.S. economy. What a bargain!!

My wife is happy so I am happy. So far we have no complaints about the product, other than the GFI plug doesn't allow her to have her hairdryer (also GFI) and this flat iron plugged into the 2 plug outlet at the same time. I don't understand women's hair regimens, but apparently that might be a detriment to some. Good value for the pricetag though.

I've had the chi ultra before, but not the digital one. My original Chi stopped working after a couple of years and I loved it so much that I had to buy another. I loved this one even more - I have very thick wavy hair that can be out of control most of the time, but with this it become slick, shiny and straight! The price was unbeatable. I would definitely purchase this again and recommend it to who ever is even thinking about it.

After reading many reviews, the good (great straightening) and the bad (be careful not to twist/swivel the cord, or the straightener will stop working, or get a short), I went ahead and purchased this straightener. WOW! Great straightener, just as reported. I like to use it with S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray Heat Defender. It makes your hair shiny and straight, and keeps it from looking fried. I have been very careful not to bend or twist the cord. When I wrapped it, I did so loosely, and made sure the tangle-free cord swivel didn't have to swivel much. Unfortunately, it has been just a little over a year, and the straightener has stopped working. A few weeks ago, I could jiggle the cord a bit, or push the GFI button several times, and get it going. Now it's dead. I guess it was worth it though, and I can't say the death was unexpected, as many, many reviewers warned of it. SO...I will be purchasing another one as soon as I find a good price, so far the best of which I found here on Amazon. Definitely the best prices are online, not at your local retailer...

This iron is great. It is wide enough to speed up the process and it heats in moments. I love it. I had been using a smaller, older Chi and decide to upgrade to the digital when my old one was no longer getting the job done. I can do my hair very quickly and it looks as smooth as silk. Save time and effort with this great CHI!

Worth paying for - we had the $20 one not hot enough, took for ever and ripped at the hair - this is really good and takes 1/2 the time.

This is my first Chi. I have always wanted one, but could never convince myself to spend that much money. I bought a cheap one and used that until the "ceramic" coating disappeared and it started pulling all my hair out. I love the temperature gauge on this Chi. My hairdresser just has a normal Chi, but I always love the way my hair looks after she uses it so I started shopping around. I got this one because of the price and the temperature gauge. It gets up to the highest temperature quickly, as little as 30 seconds I believe. The highest is 400 degrees. I use that setting because it seems faster and more effective. I'm sure there are some guidelines as to the correct temperature, but I haven't seen them and there are no instructions included. I like the cord because it swivels so you don't have it wrapping around stuff. I like the felt on outside so you can hold it if needed but not burn your hands. The only improvements I could suggest is to add a locking mechanism to lock it closed and a stand for in between uses. Still works great though. I love the guards that keep me from smacking the plates together so I don't break them accidentally. My hair looks much softer and healthier than it did with my old flat iron. I use the same hair products as before so I know it is the Chi that makes the difference for me. My hair is short and thick.

This Chi was reasonable compared to others I priced. My daughter received this for Christmas and absolutely loves it. She has very long hair with curls and it straightens her hair in about ten minutes. The weather is very humid here and anything that works all day is great! I would definitely recommend.
