This review is from: GHOST ENCOUNTERS: FINDING PHANTOMS AND UNDERSTANDING THEM (Paperback)
Serious paranormal researchers -- like me -- are always looking for fresh and quirky ways to explore the subject of ghosts and haunted places.
This book certainly fits that description. British author Cassandra Eason put considerable thought into this book. Page by page, this book weaves alternative views of ghosts and paranormal encounters.
I'm glad that I read it, because it provides some startling and different concepts to think about.
However, the book's terminology does not always match what we're accustomed to, in mainstream ghost research. At times, I felt like I was reading a textbook. I had to pause regularly to figure out what she was talking about, and frame it in more familiar terms.
In addition, the writing style can be a little murky at times. I suspect that the book was rushed to print before the author -- or perhaps the editor -- had time to reorganize it into a compelling volume.
I'd like to read more by this author, or see this book revised for a broader audience.
Are you approaching ghost hunting from a Pagan or New Age viewpoint? If so, you may enjoy Eason's unusual concepts more than most readers.
Traditionalists -- and Fundamentalist Christians -- are less likely to appreciate Eason's ideas.
For most ghost enthusiasts, this book is worth reading. I can confidently recommend it at used book prices, but only a specialized audience will want to pay full cover price.
