Great idea, but...,

I'm a classical guitarist who's been struggling over the past couple of years with symptoms of focal dystonia. I ordered this product (not through Amazon) about two months ago and I have to say that it really works. It's helped me to regain strength and independence in my middle and ring fingers and has also eliminated the numbness, tingling and pain that I worried was the start of carpal tunnel syndrome. The down side of this product is that the rubber bands supplied with it are very flimsy and both of mine snapped at the thumb within six weeks of my purchasing this item. I haven't yet contacted the manufacturer, so I can't say anything yet about the quality of their customer service, but in the meantime I'm improvising with a set of flat rubber bands that are considerably more comfortable and durable than the ones provided.

Great Product,

Works great -- much better than an asparagus rubber-band that I was using before. I feel like my fingers are stronger and are healing from RSI. The only reason why I gave it a 4 is because the rubber-band broke right away. However, I was impressed that after sending Handmaster an email, they mailed me several new rubber bands at no charge. I also learned to put my thumb in first and then connect the other fingers and vice versa when removing it. This has prevented any more of the rubber bands from breaking.

Finger Cords Break Easily,
By HIdude "HIdude" (HI, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: GHS Handmaster Plus Hand Exerciser
I bought a set that included each one of the three strength balls and immediately broke the finger cord on the purple and yellow ball/cord combo. That made me think I need to step up to the red and black combo and after a month or so broke both cords for small hands and large hands. Let me say that I got smallish hands and they are not very strong to say the least and the bands just wear out far too quick.
Now I got the "last man standing" from this sorry trio of hand strengtheners in the form of the Orange and Gray ball/cord combo for "strength training" and I'll probably break those considering how the other products have performed. I really was into the Handmaster Plus since it worked great for a little while. However, I do not recommend any of the Handmaster Plus balls since they are not durable at all. Simply put good idea but poor quality.

Poor Quality Materials Don't Hold Up,

I am a small female with small hands, but the finger cord broke after the 10th use. I am not a strong person, nor did I abuse the product (and even put it back in the box after each use). Thankfully, there is a second finger cord (of smaller size) that I can use. So, I expect this unit to last a total of 20 uses, or 10 days if used twice daily. That is disappointing.

Good Idea but...,

Exercises that extend rather than contract (squeeze) are great for tennis elbow and tendonitis in the forearm. I'm a guitar player and these exercises have given me priceless relief. When I saw this item I had to have it and it worked great for about 5 mins. Then the band snapped. This is cheap junk. Great idea. Poor materials. I was very disappointed. I've since been using a couple of size "64" rubber bands from Office Depot. A few mins every day does the trick.

This little gadget really works out muscles in your hands and arm in 1-2 minutes a day. After just that long you feel the burn like you've been working out for hours. Chord stretches are easier after a few weeks of 1-2 minutes a day. Thanks Doctor Zac.

important function of rehab!,

Depending on how long your wrist and hand remain immobile, you will experience several degrees of pain and stiffness after fractures and surgery. I had to have corrective surgery because my distal radius bone did not heal properly. I had to have a small plate placed to align my bone. Needless to say, my (dominant) hand has been rendered temporarily unavailable for strength and flexibility moves which, by the way, is just about everything we undertake. After educating myself, this wonderful little tool, targets the right areas to heighten the speed and ability. By placing your fingers through the appropriate sized holes, the ball is in the hollow of your hand. Open your hand wide and hold a few seconds, then close your fist around the ball. The band offers much needed resistance but you have to get serious about applying pressure when squeezing the ball. Once you strengthen the sleepy muscles in your upper arm and forearm, the flexibily in your wrist and fingers respond. I bought the orange ball which is harder than I thought it would be, but it motivates you to the challenge. It comes with 2 finger bands contingent on the size of your hand. Let's face it, rehabilitation is not easy but learning how our body functions and heals could step up the pace. "Experience is the best teacher," and the handmaster plus is a cost-effective resource to restoring the function of your challenged arm!
