The turret and wheels *barely* click together.

This one feels like it was made with really cheap plastic, and it falls apart all the time.

Needless to say it is just sitting collecting dust.

I'm a long time GI Joe fan and collector. I like this HISS tank a lot. It is an updated version of the Pursuit of Cobra mold. It is missing some of the details that the POC version had (control stick, cords, rubber treads, pop-up feature, moving chin guns, etc), and has a cheaper feel to the plastic. I like the tank treads which are all plastic (rubber ones look cool, but don't roll for crap and collect dirt and dust), and has a turret and clear canopy that the POC version did not. The original HISS had plastic treads and a turret, so it is a nice throwback. The chain guns can be arranged in 2 different spots on the side next to the cockpit, or on the back next to the turret, which is nice. Dislike that you cannot swap the canopy, control stick, and treads from the POC version to this version due to differences in the mold (without modifications), and the blue color. The limited articulation Cobra Commander figure included has a great sculpt, but has 1990's articulation, which really sucks. Wish they'd recreate this figure with the standard Joe articulation. Nicer plastic and being released in black would get 5 starts from me. Bought several for myself and nephews and Toys for Tots when they were on sale.

The G.I. JOE Retaliation H.I.S.S. tank is part of the Delta 2 movie series toy line by Hasbro. I picked mine up at a local Target store where they were reduced to just $5.98! At that price, there was no way not to buy one. I have to admit that I was a little hesitant when I first saw the design, and honestly didn't intend to purchase one. Even so, I am highly pleased with the overall design and appearance of the vehicle.

When you first open the box, there are eight pieces that make up the tank, along with the Cobra Commander action figure, instructions, and a decal sheet. Assembly is straightforward and simple. You attach the two tread sections to the chassis, then attach the two vulcan cannons to the side of the body. You then attach the body to the chassis. The turret snaps down onto the upper body, and then the canopy is snapped into place, and you're done.

The decals seem to have one or two that don't have an assigned place for them, but otherwise that's it. The Cobra Commander figure lacks the articulation of standard JOE figures, as he is primarily intended to be used as the driver for the vehicle. This in no way detracts from the nice mold that they used for him. His overall appearance is really impressive, and seems to be a natural progression in his design.

The H.I.S.S. tank has a pivot point on the chassis allowing the main body to swivel off axis, as well as pivoting the main body downward in the "Cobra Strike" position that the packaging details. The turret rotates and fires a bright orange projectile, and the vulcan cannons can pivot up and down as well.

I'd recommend this product to any JOE collector.

The toy was easy enough to assemble, but the small gun at the front of the cockpit will not snap in place. I suspect it may have been previously returned. However, my 8 year old doesn't mind. He just asks me to reaffix the Scotch tape when it comes loose.

I echo the statements others have made; the overall quality of the vehicle is pretty cheap, with thin plastics, tiny wheels instead of actual treads, parts that barely fit together (the "nose" on mine doesn't fit at all, so I stuffed it in with sticky tack), and disappointing stickers (why white Cobra logos instead of red?). Hasbro also took away some of the features in previous versions (the body on this only tilts down rather than rising up; there was an extra area to hold another figure which has been covered up). Let's not forget that the included figure has little articulation and no accessories!

So why buy it? I was able to get it on clearance ($10), and it does LOOK good on a shelf. If you have other figures to show with it (like a standard Cobra Commander, an articulated pilot/driver, and troopers to surround the thing), it starts to look really imposing.

*Sadly, another negative is that it lacks the red cockpit from the box pictures and instead has a black one; the sticker sheet makes this worse by having solid stickers for the cockpit displays, so not only will you not be able to see the figure inside, the cockpit will have big white rectangles showing inside (I'm sure I'm not the only one who omits those).*

If you can find it on clearance and just want a vehicle to display behind your Cobra troops, it fits the bill for a value price. Still, I have the feeling that more serious collectors will buy the SDCC Shockwave version instead (despite the high auction prices, it looks much better and comes with a bunch of accessories) or opt for one of the older releases.
