This review is from: GI Joe 25th Anniversary - Comic 2-Packs: Tomax & Xamot (Toy)
In this limited release celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Hasbro's influential toy line, animated series, and comic book series, buyers are given the opportunity to purchase the Cobra twins, Tomax and Xamot. I'm not sure why, but other than Cobra Commander, these twin brothers were my favorite Cobra villains. In the series the twins are an extremely flexible and dexterous duo that are in charge of Cobra's elite Crimson Guard. I must have not been the only one who liked the duo as a kid because you could hardly ever find them in a store when I was a kid. Things haven't changed much because this re-issue package is still difficult to find. Anyway, this re-issue of the twins includes both brothers, their weapons of choice, stands to place them on, and a special comic written by Larry Hama. It is true that Hasbro marketed this line specifically towards nostalgic adults. However, the toys are also for kids. With usual play, there shouldn't be any problems but with extended play G.I. Joe action figures are notorious for having wobbly legs below the knee.

I have to admit I'm a little late to the bandwagon on these newer GI Joes - but once I found out they existed I went balls-to-the-wall to get them. Tomax and Xamot were towards the top of my list for "must haves," so when they showed up in the mail today I was greatly pleased.

As expected by those who are familiar with GI Joe, the figures are mirror images of eachother, with Xamot having a small scar on his left cheek to help differentiate between the two. The figures I received have excellent paint jobs (though Tomax has just a little bit of brown overspray on his face - forgiveable in my opinion since it looks like dirt). The hands on these guys, unlike many of the other figures, are pretty grippy and hold their weapons well. They don't have any weird issues with any of their joints, so they stand up just fine.

As other commenters have pointed out, these are aimed at nostalgic adults who will either never open the package, or who will open them and display them on a shelf or desk. I believe they could stand up to some abuse if you give them to a child, as long as that child isn't trying to deliberately tear them apart. The only structural weakness I have seen on Tomax and Xamot are the hinges on their shoulderpads, which allows the pad to pop off very easily.

Overall I'd say these are two of the best figures in my collection, and I wholeheartedly recommend them!

The other reviewer has no clue. Unless your kids are blowing them up with firecrackers these toys are great. My son loves them and has several others. A great update for GI Joe!
