Book Description

General Military November 21, 2003
This book focuses on the US Army combat infantryman fighting in different war theaters. Wars are won and lost in the trenches and examining soldiers' lives assists in understanding larger scale unit operations and strategy. Each vignette focuses on one individual, with the experiences of the many woven into an intricate and meticulous narrative that exposes the reader to a soldier's daily life, from initial entry, through training, combat with the soldier fighting day to day just to see the sun come up, being wounded and going home. This is an individual participant's experience had he recorded it. Combining Warrior 45, 53 and 56, this book is a great value special edition.

Editorial Reviews

Review

'Rush makes sophisticated use of composite characters to present the front-line experience of US soldiers in the major theatres of World War II. He offers not stereotypes but archetypes of Americans in combat during history's greatest war.'
