They are flexible enough that they do a terrific job of scraping my dessert batter bowls.

The Product:
If you cook frequently and use a spatula, then this is the one you've been wanting to own whether you know it or not. There are two main things this spatula does perfectly: it's one, molded piece and it's soft and stiff in all the right places. Sure, I've used heat-resistant spatulas that are all one piece, but they have always been way too stiff (due to using the same composition of material for the handle and the head). Likewise, I've used and settled for spatulas that have a head that does what I want but separates from the handle, causing it to either come off during use or get gunk inside where it's difficult to clean (not to mention having to be careful the handle doesn't melt since it's not made from heat-resistant material).

The rest of the spatula is a dream as well. It's got a good heft, solid and dependable. The handle is stiff and doesn't bend at all. The head has a variable stiffness that gets more and more pliable as you get to the tip. It's hard to explain in words, but I can attest that it functions just as well scraping the side of a bowl as it does scraping the bits off the bottom of a pan when deglazing. Of course, it's also very heat resistant from end to end. I cook mainly in cast iron, often at high temperatures, and have intentionally left this spatula both in the pan and on the sides without it leaving any marks at all. Now, I'm not in the habit of leaving spatulas in pans, but it's nice to know it won't melt when I accidentally do.

The Company:
Since they're new to Amazon, it would be a shame for me to not mention how they've exceeded my expectations as a company. As you've probably figured out by now, this product was launched on Kickstarter.

This is probably the perfect spatula. Rubber scraper. Whatever you want to call it - get one. The unibody design prevents grossness between the handle and the head. The blade is stiff enough to give you control, but it is flexible enough to handle lightly-cooked eggs. It will stand up to heat and to heavy stirring Plus, the silicone won't scratch your pans.

I used mine for folding egg whites, making cake batter, making omelettes, stirring boiling sugar syrup, and scraping fond into pan sauces. It was ideal every time.

Only caveat - it is not dog proof. My first one was eaten out of the dishwasher. I wept. And now I am buying 2 more.

It feels odd to be extremely enthusiastic about a spatula, but as an engineer and can appreciate the design effort that went into this.

1) It's one piece, so no places for food particles to hide and bacteria to grow.
2) It's reinforced and has just the right stiffness for folding batter, scrambling eggs, etc.
3) It's extremely heat resistant so if you don't do anything too crazy, it won't be damaged by hot pans, etc.
4) It comes in lots of colors!

Overall, a wonderful product at a decent price. That's not always an easy combination to find.

The first thing I noticed when I held this spatula was how well it just fits in my hand. Every other spatula I have used works fine, but this one just feels right. Like it is going to help you and not work against you. It is lightweight, but heavy enough and stiff enough to hold up to hand mixing thicker batters. It is also flexible enough to get everything off the side of the bowl. I also like that it is all one part. No gunk under the head of the spatula. All my other spatulas have wood handles and they eventually start to come apart and splinter or are not suited for the dishwasher. This one is dishwasher friendly. Love the colors, easy to spot in a drawer full of knives, wine openers, serving spoons, and the other now useless spatuals that don't hold a prayer of ever being used again because this will be the only spatula I ever use.

My only request? More kitchen gadgets from GIR. This company is named GIR: Get It Right. And that they did.

I am obsessed with these Product of GIR spatulas. "GIR" stands for "Get It Right," and they really did. My biggest beef with most spatulas is that the head and body are two different pieces, so they either come apart too easily or too much junk gets lodged between the head and the handle, no matter how well you clean it. Problem solved with these unibody, silicone, heat-resistant, easy-to-clean, dishwasher-safe, and nearly indestructible spatulas. Unlike other silicone spatulas, the head of this one is slightly flexible, allowing you to use it to handle more delicate items, while the handle is stiff and doesn't bend at all. It's made of 100% eco-friendly, nontoxic material. The shape is perfect, too; it just feels RIGHT in your hand. Plus, it comes in all these gorgeous colors! I have Teal and Lavender, but I'd get one of each color if I could. All so pretty!

Also, FYI for all: THREE new sizes + multiple other tools from GIR are on the way, thanks to Kickstarter! [...] So excited. :)

I got my GIR spatula from Kickstarter, and it's easily the best purchase I made last year. I use it for everything: baking, sauteing, mixing, even serving on occasion. It is extremely heat resistant and incredibly easy to clean - I have not had anything stick to it, even if I leave it in the sink for a while after cooking.

The construction is very high quality. It is bendy enough at the very tip to scrape a mixing bowl, but plenty firm (due to the solid core) to saute anything from vegetables to ground meats. I used it for every step of making beouf bourgingon (sauteing mushrooms, pearl onions, and beef, as well as stirring the stew regularly during its time in the oven).

Bottom line: this spatula is well worth the money due to its versatility and durability.
