The British Underground in a Nutshell,
By "squishy66" (Los Angeles, california USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Give the Anarchist a Cigarette (Pimlico) (Paperback)
Farren is a provocative writer and commentator of pop culture, in addition to being one of the rock's most prolific and consistently interesting artists, as a solo artist and with his group the Deviants. This is his memoir of the rock underground of the '60s and '70s, and is as funny and irreverant as you could wish. Compares favorably with the memoirs of such contemporaries as Richard Neville and Robert Fraser, and sits well along side Andrew Oldham's series. The book publication coincides with the release on Total Energy of a new CD retrospective: "On Your Knees, Earthlings!!" spanning the years 1967-2001. Recommended.
