I bought this for my brother as a gift because he's a gadgeholic but he hesitates to use it. If you drop your phone there's not much protection.

I guess I must like this case since it is my second one. I wore my first one consistently for over 6 months when the top started coming off easily. It was a little annoying but the bigger problem was that one of the buttons kept falling out as well which was going to get lost. I should of used Elmer's Glue to glue the tang back on to keep it in place instead of Crazy Glue which of course ran into the actual button making it unusable. Can't have this case without a functioning button so I got the brown case--I figured I could interchange between my black case and this depending on mood since I really only replacing the top. I did have a heck of a time getting the top to slide off just to get it out of the packaging and onto my case in which I injured my finger. I figure they were over compensating with he fact that the top is usually loose and I am sure this one will suffer the same fate eventually.
I almost forgot to mention the attention this case gets from people. I bought some quick release clips from the hardware store and hook it up with a camera strap and wear it like a real camera which fools a lot of people when they stop to ask me about my cool camera.

I've been using this - with the leather carrying case - for nearly a year now. I bought it because it was difficult to keep track of my phone on the movie set I was working on. Every time I lay my phone down to do something on set (I had no pockets) someone moved my phone.. "That's not supposed to be on set!"
Since I got this my phone has not been misplaced. Two reasons for this: 1) Movie people respect cameras far more than they respect phones, and this really looks like a camera, and 2) with the handy strap, I could wear my phone around my neck or over a shoulder so I didn't need to lay it down so much to free my hands.
Now that the movie is over, it still fools people everywhere I go. It's a rare day that I don't have a conversation with a stranger about my "cool camera." Sometimes I tell them, sometimes I don't, but it always makes my day more interesting. If you don't like to talk to strangers, this is not the case for you!
Some reviews have said it's not very sturdy, but what I have found is that the part covering and protecting the phone is quite sturdy. Over the course of the year the top part that holds the case on (very securely) becomes looser. I haven't had a problem with it coming off when I don't want it to, but it's easier to take it off now than it was when the case was new.
The only downside for me has been the lens attachment, which has also gotten looser over the last couple of months. I realize it's only a matter of time before I lose the lens somewhere. It came with a second flatter lens, so if that happens, I guess I'll just be reverting to that.
And - when I've worn it out - I WILL buy another like it.
