I usually travel for Christmas, so I haven't had a tree for several years. This year, however, I'm hosting the family at my house, so a tree is a necessity.

Problem is -- I have two very active curious cats. I had visions of shattered glass ornaments strewn all over the house. Not a pleasant thought!

What a wonderful surprise to find this unbreakable ornament set on Amazon. I opted for the 85-piece set in gold. My color scheme is copper and gold, so the color fit right in.

There is a tremendous assortment of shapes -- check out the center image above. I ended up using the star for my tree topper -- it's the perfect size and weight. The filigree snowflakes are beautiful and provide a perfect amount of "flash." Many of the ornaments are covered in glitter -- really beautiful when placed near the lights (and they don't shed, either).

These are high-quality ornaments -- yes, they're plastic, but you'd never know it by looking at them.

Best of all -- my cats can play midnight soccer to their hearts' content, and I don't have to worry about breakage.

I bought the 85-piece set in silver for my first ever Christmas tree. As I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on ornaments, I opted for this set. You get a good variety of balls, stars, bells, and snowflakes. The quality is certainly not as high as you would expect from glass ornaments but at this price point the set is a very good value. Some of the ornaments - especially the glitter stars - look a bit cheap so I left them in the box. The shiny silver pieces are definitely the highlight. Some of the balls do look like tiny disco balls. I thought they don't look very festive so I also did not unpack them. In the end I think we ended up using around half of the included ornaments but we still felt like we got decent value for money.

My last small gripe with this set is that apart from the snow flakes, none of the ornaments came with hooks. So my girlfriend and me ended up working a production line: I sat at the table creating little hoops from string and then handed the ornament over to her to put on the tree (She's the more creative one anyway :-) ). While this increased the time it took to get the ornaments up, because we had tea and played Christmas music in the background, it actually made for a wonderfully serene winter afternoon. :-)

This is a great value. I got it home and was impressed with the amount of different shapes and styles you get for the money. It breaks down to about 45 cents per each. Even as a professional decorator I can't get this at cost. I am buying more in every color to help fill wreaths and garlands for my clients. Great Value!!!!
