As many here attest, this is the unit that should have been supplied with the Garmin GPS.

I've tried various types of mounts: the vent mount and the beanbag mount. The vent clips had a tenacious attachment to the vent fins. Even the smallest beanbag mount was cumbersome.

This gooseneck unit is small enough to take with me or stuff into the glove compartment when not in use. It comes with the gooseneck mount, a 3" mounting disk, and one alcohol prep pad.

From the photo, I thought this was going to be "flexible" as in the wimpy sort of flexible on my gooseneck desk lamps. When I tried to flex it, it felt practically unbendable. I thought Arkon made a mistake and put a normal straight steel rod inside.

Then I read the directions. You have to use both hands to bend the inner rod in the tube. After you mount this to the windshield, you cannot rebend the gooseneck easily with one hand. And that's a good thing because the rigidity keeps it from bouncing. You can make horizontal adjustments by loosening the nut. The suction cup has plenty of suction at 2-3/4" in diameter, compared to the Garmin's 2-1/4".

Now I can actually reach the GPS screen, and it's at proper eye level. Excellent little device.

The stock windshield mount from Garmin was just too short. With this goose neck mount, you can bend to whatever way you want your Nuvi to face you, even better was now i don't need to stretch my arm infront to interface with the Nuvi when i am driving! No vibrations or whatsoever when driving over rough terrain. Great!

I needed a longer windshield mount for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It works great for me and I have been using it for months. It holds it in place, doesn't slide or slip, just perfect. Great addition for my Garmin that I love. I have enjoyed it very much and will buy from this seller again.

The suction cup on this item is great. Never had an issue with it falling off or anything.

As for the "adjustable" gooseneck shaft, it broke a few months after using it. I used it daily and had to adjust it almost daily as I am in a different truck every night for work. The aluminum gooseneck shaft is stiff and where it attaches to the base is plastic. The plastic piece broke after a couple weeks and I thought I would just deal with it. Well the other day the goose's neck broke off. Now completely useless.

If you are going to have this item in one vehicle and leave it in the same position, it's worth the price. If you need something with some versatility I would suggest getting the shorty garmin mount. I guess I will have to get that one.

Once again the price on amazon is the best. This is a great product for the gps. It should be the standard mount. No more reaching.

The gooseneck mount works fine if you place it low enough on the windshield so that it rests on the top of the dash. If it is mounted higher, it shakes. I'm glad we ordered it, though, because I couldn't reach it with the original mount.

When I orderd the flexible arm extender (ARKON GN042 Garmin Nuvi 8.5-Inch Windshield Suction Gooseneck Mount) I wasn't sure how it was going to work. BEing the arm is 8.5 inches long & then attaching the GPS to it the weight would make it shake. It is very stable with little vibration. It's now easier to reach without stretching all the way tot he window. I installed it in my wifes Honda CRV & was also concerned about the suction. Would it hold to the window or fall off? Again surprised it hold well & has been up for weeks in frigd temperature & hasn't come off once. The only issue I had was it was difficult to bend & I was afraid of forcing it. However, we were was able to bend & shape the mount.
Needless to say I am very pleased with this purchase.

As of means of mounting your GPS on the approved portion of your car windshield as required by CA, this is the perfect product. The vacuum grip is extremely strong and stable. There is some vibration if the road is uneven, but not that troublesome. Can be turned in various directions. Wish I had this item years ago!

This Gooseneck GPS mount extends out 8 inches making the GPS easier to see. It is sturdy and does not feel flimsy. The suction cup is an improvement over the stock as it holds quite well. The ball head allows for adjustment, just not completely 360. The single flaw is that the gps vibrates a little more than with the beanbag mount and more than the standard window suction mount. But not so much that you can't read the screen and in my car the gps is now out over the dash. Driving nirvana! A little vibration in the furtherance of navigation is no vice. Five stars and a BUY!

Love this item! Like the length - puts the GPS at the edge of the dash - easy to reach in the Explorer. Sticks amazingly! Not even a wide temperature swing has caused it to come loose! One thing to note - at 8.5 inches, it will vibrate a bit, but not enough to matter in use.
