As a bariatric patient, I need to get 90-100 grams of protein per day - which isn't easy to get just by eating food. So finding a good protein supplement without a lot of fat, or sugar was really important to me. Even more importantly, it had to taste good! I was told about this product by several staff members in my local GNC - and they knew their stuff not only about how good it was for workout nutrition, but for bariatric patients as well. The protein isolate in the Wheybolic Extreme 60 is incredibly easy for WLS patients to absorb, so we get the full benefit of the protein.

In addition, I'm working out - in specific, lifting weights- so I don't lose too much muscle mass while losing weight. I drink 1 scoop of Wheybolic Extreme 60 Chocolate in either a cup of skim milk or unsweetened almond milk within 30 minutes of finishing a workout and astonishingly, I've found that I'm almost never sore the next day - even if I push myself on my weights. As a woman, I'm sensitive to "bulking up," but I've found that while the weightlifting (and using the Wheybolic Extreme 60) is indeed helping me regain some muscle, I'm by no means getting bulky, but sleek and contoured.

Although a bit pricey, it's really worth it to find a protein shake that's tasty as well as effective. I don't see myself switching to another brand in the foreseeable future.

I purchased this protein powder for a member of my family, and I tried it out, too. This protein mix contains whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed whey, which are good for building and maintaining muscle, and meeting dietary needs for protein in general. Note that the recommended serving size is a huge amount of protein to take at one time.

This whey drink is flavored with cocoa. It has a good taste and is low in carbohydrates. It blends well using a Blender Bottle or a whisk.

This protein drink is of better quality than GNC Pro Performance Amplified 100% Protein Drink, which is filled with multiple ingredients which are either unnecessary in a whey-protein product, downright unhealthy, or both. This drink doesn't have nearly as many of those types of ingredients, but it does have six of them.

On the unnecessary side there is fiber (polydextrose). Fiber is generally considered good for you, but there is no need for it in a protein drink, and if you blend up your protein drink and don't chug it down immediately, the fiber could cause it to thicken unpleasantly.

Lecithin is included as an emulsifier, but that is unnecessary in a whey protein powder, and most really good protein powders don't include an emulsifier.

As a 44 year old woman who works out regularly (was running 40-50 miles a week before a knee injury) in addition to regular weight training, I was looking for a protein supplement with very little carbs and fat. This has been a true blessing. I am unable to do lower body work right now (knee surgery scheduled for March) and am limited to an arm bike for my cardio. As I can only do that every other day and not near the length of time I was able to run I was concerned about weight gain. I started this and not only do I feel better and stronger but I am actually getting leaner. I am 5'4" and as of last October was 13.8% body fat. I have lost another pound (down to 114) since beginning this 3 weeks ago. And I haven't changed anything else. I use it as a mid-morning and md-afternoon snack. Being very involved in nutrition I recommend not using the 3 scoops recommended. I actually do a scoop and a half which gives 30 g protein, 3.5 g carbs and only 0.5g fat at 140 calories. The body can't really process more protein than that at one time so don't waste the money. I haven't tried the chocolate as I'm a vanilla girl but the vanilla is really good. The cookies and cream is so so (a bit fake tasting) so I'll stick to vanilla. And I have had no adverse GI effects from the product which is a definite bonus! : )

So I have been taking this protein on and off for years, however after buying a barrel recently and seeing how fast it went I am starting to feel that a switch is needed. However, that is NOT to say because of the quality of the protein itself. In fact, I saw very good results from this protein both when I was bulking and training for powerlifting as well as when I was and still am trying to cut to focus on bodybuilding.

As far as the main concerns go, I will list them now.

*Will it help you lose weight?
Yes, if your diet is good and your workout regiment is challenging you should see a loss of fat while an increase in lean body mass,

*Will I get "bulky" if I take it?
If you do not workout with intensity or focus on hypertrophy, your diet is crap, or you do not do cardio at least a few times a week, you may see a possible strength gain but almost certainly you will gain weight, and ultimately fat.

*Is it worth the money!
Yes, and no. If like me, you are a little confined by your limited budget and need to stretch your dollars further I would advise spending more on focusing on diet along with another different protein that could be stretched further. However, if I had the money to do so, I would buy this protein EVERYTIME though I would use amazon since if you go to a GNC brick and Mortar store you are looking to pay $15-20 more when all is said and done. That is, you will be spending 15-20 dollars extra when the money could be used more efficiently.

*How should I consume the serving and how many times a day?
Well I differed in the way I took my shakes and it worked just fine.
