My Book -- God,
By A Customer
This review is from: GNT My Book -- God (Paperback)
This is a great translation of the Bible but with the bill boards that appeared with God's saying on them -- along with a little explanation from God on what they mean. There are also illustrations that add to each verse of the Bible.I am thoroughly enjoying the modern translation, and the suggestions on how to read the Bible to get the most out of each section. It has a great verse and page number section, as well as, index in the back. I also found the maps extremely helpful. I would recommend this book whole heartedly!

My Book---God,
By Oak Lawn Pilgrim (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: GNT My Book -- God (Paperback)
I already had at home numerous Bibles mainly because I liked the study notes. But when I came across My Book---God, I had to have it. I have heard about the billboards and I have seen them on e-greetings, but never saw them in Chicago. But what made me get this Bible is that when I was flipping through the pages, familiar pictures were staring me in the face. I immediately recognized it as the Good News For Modern Man Bible---the second Bible I have ever owned, the first being a leather-bound Revised Standard Version that was given to me by my home church of 40 years when I was in 4th grade. The Good News For Modern Man was the translation that my church, a member of the United Church of Christ, used with the jr and sr high students back in the late '70s and early 80's, and I wore out my first copy to the point where it wasn't useable anymore. I have always kept an eye out for a new copy because I loved the way the text was written and how simple yet powerful the line drawings were. I have had seen editions since the original edition of Good News For Modern Man that had a distictive cover of grey copies of newspaper banners from around the world, including the Chicago Tribune's, but none of them had both the newspaper banner cover and/or the line drawings that I grew up with. When I saw this on the shelf with a sampe copy opened, I flipped through to the first billboard page, and as I was doing so, I saw my beloved line drawings. I have found again the beloved version of the Bible of my youth. I definately recommend this Bible to anyone jr high age or older.
