Book is too platform-specific,

This book was the assigned textbook for an Intro to XHTML class that I took at a local community college. I found it (the book, that is) to be extremely frustrating.
Firstly, the instructions are extremely Windows-specific. I've read several (X)HTML instructional books and leafed through quite a few more, and this is the _only_ one that I've seen that is written with the assumption that the reader is using a particular operating system. This is completely, utterly unnecessary as (X)HTML is completely platform-indepentent. It doesn't matter if you're developing on a Windows machine or any other operating system, the code that you're writing is the same. And when you take into account the fact that folks who write, or are beginning to write, programming code tend to be more likely to use a different operating system (Mac OS X and Linux in particular), than the general population, then the choice to make this book Windows-specific becomes even more mystifying. This wouldn't really be an issue, however, except that the author(s) found it necessary to include Windows-specific basic-computing steps throughout the step-by-step instructional sections. Things like getting around in the file structure of the Windows C: drive, Windows-specific key commands, etc. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but knowing basic computing skills should really be a prerequisite to learning something like XHTML, and shouldn't be included in a computer programming book (even in a subject as basic as beginning XHTML).

Read my title. Who does this to loyal customers?! I've been purchasing products from Amazon for many years, and yet I spend the extra money to pick up a new copy and I get a dented up copy. thanks, but no thanks!
