This book was written by my Great Uncle Lewis. He was my father's uncle, and my grandfather's brother. I knew him as Lewis Latham, but found out later that his true name was Jack. The story he tells about the hard life he lead, is gripping and intense. He had to endure the grief of losing his family, the hardships of the times, and the abuse of the people that were meant to care for him. My Great Uncle Lewis passed away last night, at 1205 am on Valentine's day. He died on a day that reflects love for all who celebrate it. God set this day aside for him, because he had so many people that loved him. If you remember having a family elder tell you a story while you sat on the floor in anticipation, then this story is for you.
