Editorial Reviews

Review

[Episode 1 review] "Matt Pizzolo's tale of love, death, and organ harvesting; all set in a disgusting post apocalyptic wasteland. Looks as fantastic as you can expect... I am eagerly awaiting the next episode. With [tons of special] features and a ridiculously low price, it's hard not to give this a 9/10!" --Sins of Cinema

[Episode 1 review] "Godkiller is a curious little gem... Animators and a team of voice actors take the artwork from the comic; perform some digital puppetry to add motion to the panels while a team of voice actors brings the characters to life - a hybrid between graphic novels and full-blown animation. The artwork is lifted directly from the comic. The voiceover work is well above average. Overall, it was an enjoyable story, over quickly and making me wait anxiously for the next chapter to be released. A fast, beautiful 25 minutes. These 'animated comic books' are a real love-hate issue with fans. Personally, I'm one of those who dig 'em - and this was no exception. 3 out of 4" --Gutmunchers

[Episode 1 review] "Usually I can't stand motion comics... however, I was somehow drawn to Godkiller's comic aspect. The only word I can use to describe Godkiller's tone is grimdark. The episode's grim-darkness is clear, but not over applied, with all kinds of crazy organ-stealing, brutality and cannibalism, murder, and prostitution. The great proverbial cherry top lay in the extras. Godkiller comes with some extra special media formats including a nearly hour-long audio book chapter called Godkiller: Silent War. The chapter is a prequel, and is pretty fun to listen to. Also included on the disc, a 68 page PDF document containing the first two issues of the comic book. Holy ****, that's a lot of awesome! The single half-hour episode wasn't nearly enough to satisfy my ever-evolving needs, so when it ended on a cliffhanger I was almost distressed. I cannot wait for more of this. On a five scale, I give it a four. It entertained, it looked good, and I felt good watching it." --EuroCultAV

Product Description

"Post-nuclear punk odyssey Godkiller is making the jump from indie comic book to 'illustrated film' with engaging animation that merges sequential art, 3-D CGI and motion graphics... a horrific yarn of apocalypse, quantum physics, culture jamming and conspiracy theory." --Wired

The epic story of a boy's quest to save his sister.

Based on the comic book by award-winning writer-director Matt Pizzolo and illustrator Anna Muckcracker, GODKILLER takes place in a dark-future after economic collapse, after nuclear holy war, and after Earth is colonized by alien races. Tommy and his kid sister Lucy live in an orphanage in one of the few remaining city-states, but Lucy is critically ill and desperately in need of a new heart. Tommy's odyssey to find a new heart for his sister begins when he follows an organ-stealing prostitute named Halfpipe out of the city-state and into the savage borderland known as Outer City.

GODKILLER mixes unforgiving brutality, quantum physics, conspiracy theory, and secret history for an iconoclastic hero's journey like none before it.

Starring the voice talents of Lance Henriksen (AVP: Alien vs Predator), Danielle Harris (Halloween 4, 5, H1, H2), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), Tiffany Shepis (Night of the Demons), Justin Pierre (singer Motion City Soundtrack), and Davey Havok (singer A.F.I.), this Limited Edition Episodic release of GODKILLER brings the serialized nature of comic books to DVD. Three episodes will be released regularly starting October 2009 before the series is collected into a standalone feature-length movie in mid 2010.

DVD Includes:
- A beautifully mastered widescreen presentation of GODKILLER: WALK AMONG US Episode 2 (28 mins);
- High-resolution, digital PDFs of the Godkiller comic book issues 3 & 4 (64 pages);
- Chapter 2 of the brand new prequel novel GODKILLER: SILENT WAR included on the DVD as an mp3 audiobook, an e-book PDF, and an audiobook that is playable right through your DVD player (35 mins).
[Set in the near future, GODKILLER: SILENT WAR tells the story of Joe Junior, a 17-year old draft-dodger who is recruited by an armed cult of populist assassins and thrust into a secret world of international cabals, alien conspiracies, and the countdown to Armageddon.]

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the first episode! Be the first to Walk Among Us!, January 16, 2010
By
This review is from: GODKILLER: WALK AMONG US [episode 2] (DVD)
If the first episode is a meditation on power, this one is a meditation on control. Godkiller delivers again with a punch. A bit more philosophical (early Henri Bergson) than the first, and it will leave you wanting to see how this psychological landscape evolves in the 3rd episode.

You'll want to pick this one up quickly, sure to be a legendary series from the famed director Matt Pizzolo. Walk Among Them! Walk Among Us NOW!
