As a baby, in the crib, my daughter went to sleep easily. Once in her bed, I had to lay down with her at bedtime. I tried to let her cry it out, but I found in much more difficult than expected and ended up giving in. She just turned 7, and I wondered if she would ever fall asleep on her own. She had trouble winding down most nights, no surprise as she is a wiggly worm during the day. I started out playing meditation CD's for kids, which worked for a short time to help her wind down, but she got bored with them quickly. Then, I tried this CD. Works great! The last 2 nights, she told me she wanted to fall asleep by herself while listening to this CD, and she did! I'm not sure if she'll bore with the stories eventually, but for now, this CD is putting her to sleep. I just ordered his other sleep CD because I'm so happy with this one.

I am not kidding when I call this miraculous. I have a nearly 5 year old who has been a tricky sleeper since the day she came home. This has put her to sleep every night that I have used it, even when she didn't seem to be tired enough.
I don't know how Mr. Weiss does this. The stories are just interesting enough to get us lost in them, yet so soothing that I find myself falling asleep too. This tape is hypnotic. I wish I had many more. There is something about his voice that is spellbinding and comforting. This is a gifted storyteller and this cd is magic. I like the way each story ends with beautiful, haunting music and just drifts away, instead of an abrupt ending.
I checked this out from the library and just don't want to give it back, so I am buying my own, as soon as I finish this review. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I see that there is another one for sleep/relaxation and I'm buying it without hesitation.

This is a wonderful CD for helping children unwind and go to sleep. Jim Weiss's voice is soothing and the stories are interesting, yet restful. It worked for my second grade daughter for a couple or three months, before she memorized all the stories on the CD and they no longer kept her active mind occupied. We took a several month break from the CD and it worked again when we returned to it, but only for a short time. Nonetheless, this is the best CD of its kind, and, if used judiciously, could be a real miracle worker for young insomniacs.

I would definitely recommend this CD. If nothing else, it's peaceful, warm-hearted, and soothing . . . and these are all qualities that most of us need more of in our lives! The CD feels like a loving goodnight hug! I highly recommend it.
