Hoodia is a small cactus-like plant that suppresses appetite without many of the side effects of other diet products such as nervousness, racing heart or queasy stomach. The appetite suppressing properties of hoodia were first introduced into the western world when the South African government was investigating the diets of its indigenous people. Hoodia was included in this study because it is a dietary mainstay for the San people, a tribe that lives on the fringes of the Kalahari Desert. The San have used Hoodia for many millennia to suppress hunger while on hunting expeditions. How Hoodia Works Five plants have been studied over the years but of the five plants, Hoodia gordoni has attracted the most attention because its the one used by the tribesmen. In two studies with lean and obese rats, researchers found hoodia extracts strongly suppressed the appetites of the obese rats, causing major weight loss. The lean rats in the study also experienced similar suppression of appetite and a moderate amount of weight loss.2,3 Researchers believe the molecules in hoodia act upon the hypothalamus, tricking the body into believing your stomach is full. This product works well for many people but there are always exceptions because of peoples' personal body chemistry, caloric intake, level of physical activity, stress, personal metabolism, etc.

This didn't work for me at all. I'm taking Diucaps, but I bought mine from my doctor. They really work for me I am not hungry at all during the day and when I eat I get full pretty quick.
