I have used a lot of light meters in the past 40 years -- some of them outstanding, some of them expensive. For many things, however, I trusted the light meters built into my cameras. When some of my favorite vintage cameras began to have meter failure, I repaired them...only to find out upon developing several rolls of film that the repairs did not last.

Unwilling to stop using these "old favorite" cameras, I decided it was time to find a good, relatively inexpensive incident light meter to use whenever the "digital" was put away in favor of some of my old film cameras (which is often).

The Gossen Luna Pro Digital is the meter I chose after much research. I was looking for an incident meter, and this one will also allow for reflective metering. It is remarkably simple to use, gives accurate readings, and was among the less expensive of the "good" meters available. Its digital read-out is large and clear, and the single AA battery required lasts a remarkably long time. I would recommend this meter to just about anyone!
