Just got this GOGroove Panda Pal Speaker system in for my daughter (toddler) and we are super-impressed with it. I am a very picky shopper, often critical of products, but this little speaker system is great. Here's why:
1) Very original design; looks fantastic; it actually lives up to its expectations - it doesnt look cheap at all like I thought it might
2) The build is solid, not cheap thin plastic like I thought it might have
3) Very unique and fun features; the nose lights up red to show you the power is on; the two ears serve as touch controls to make the volume louder or softer; at first I thought it was broken because I couldn't hear any sound and I could not find a volume control anywhere. But then I finally realized you just touch the ears to make it louder or quieter. (This is one case where maybe I should've read the simple instructions or maybe even read the box, I know.)
4) My little daughter loves it and was so impressed with it.
5) The volume is actually pretty good, not great. It beats our Apple G4 laptop speakers though by far. It boosts the volume of the laptop sound output by about a factor of 4. So it does exactly what I wanted it to do which is to dramatically increase the volume of our laptop. That said, this thing definitely will not fill a room with sound. What it is good for is give you all the volume you need if you are sitting at your computer -no more, no less. This is not for a teenager who likes LOUD music or who wants to party with friends. Not even close.

So, we love this thing! Good job Gogroove. We are impressed! (And while it might sound like I work for GoGroove or something, I do not. I am just really excited about aunique and quality product for such a reasonable price - you dont find that often anymore.

This product is great and it arrived in a timely manner. It was a gift for my daughter. She and her friend love to listen to music on her phone and dance along. This Panda speaker works very well and has great sound. The only thing is the battery cover states it takes 4 AAA batteries but it in fact takes 4 AA batteries. Not really a big deal, just an FYI.

For small speakers, they produce some legit sound. I was surprised by the clarity and the clear mids and highs it produced. These are good for just jammin out when you're hanging out with your friends

இ Fuzzy Wuzzy's Summary:
ѾѾѾѾѾ Highly recommended with warm fuzzies!

What is in the box package?

✵ plastic panda speaker
✵ 100-240V dual-voltage AC adapter with 76" cord
✵ 41" 3.5mm stereo audio cable for connecting the speaker to a headphone port
✵ 8-page "User Guide"
✵ Leaflet asking for support of the Pandas International organization

First of all, how can you NOT like a panda?!?

This is a really cute panda speaker design, equipped with two 2-inch stereo speakers designed as the panda's big round eyes, a red LED nose that lights up when the speaker is turned on, and the red-glowing nose blinks when you touch the top of the panda's left ear to increase volume or touch the top of its right ear to decrease volume. The top of this panda's ears are touch-sensitive, and you just lightly tap the top of the ears or pretend that you are petting or stroking the panda's ears to adjust the sound volume. The two 2-inch speakers in the panda's eyes offer surprisingly good distortion-free sound if you crank up its sound volume. I also have the smaller, far more portable GOgroove Panda Pal High-Powered Portable Mini Speaker System for Smartphones , Tablets , MP3 , Laptop Computers and More!, which uses two smaller 1.5-inch speakers for that panda's eyes. On the smaller "Panda Pal", I usually have to set the iPod's 'EQ' setting to "Bass Booster" to get a more balanced sound, whereas with this "Mama Panda Pal", the music sounds pretty balanced with the 'EQ' turned off. Because each of the two stereo channels is played through a single full-range 2-inch speaker, the music does lack both the sparkling crisp high frequencies that can be offered by using a dedicated tweeter and it also lacks deep low frequencies that a larger speaker can produce. But I listen to a wide variety of music through this "Mama Panda Pal", ranging from classical to rock to techno to jazz to narrated podcasts, and it never sounds too strident or tiresome.

Having dimensions of 8.5"x6.75"x6.5" and weighing 2.2 pounds, this is not a very portable speaker to take along with your laptop, MP3 player, or smartphone. If you want a more portable panda speaker that will fit inside a backpack or large purse, go for the "Panda Pal" that I previously mentioned; it is just as cute as this larger "Mama Panda Pal". The reclining panda can be powered either using the included dual-voltage AC adapter or using four AA batteries. The cover to the battery compartment that is underneath the panda has an incorrect label stating "BATTERY: AAA x 4", but the "User Guide" does correctly mention that the speaker uses AA batteries. The bottom of the panda has four small round rubber pads for non-sliding grip when set on a table or desk. The speaker's on/off switch, AC adapter port, and 3.5mm audio cable port are located behind the panda, right below its head. The two 2-inch stereo speakers that are its eyes are covered by protective metal screens.

Because this speaker gets its audio input from a mini headphone jack, you can plug this speaker into any computer, tablet, MP3 player, or handheld device that has a headphone output (i.e. it does not rely on an iPod's 30-pin connector). Devices that retrieve the sound from an iPod's 30-pin connector have higher sound fidelity than via the headphone jack, but for a portable speaker system like this, you would not notice a difference anyway.

About the only improvement that I can possibly suggest for this "Mama Panda Pal" is if the bulging belly of the panda's body could be used either as a storage compartment for the AC adapter and audio cable or as a place to mount a third passive subwoofer for better bass frequencies. The top of the panda's belly has a plastic oval cap that looks like it was snapped into the belly to cover its interior. Both when transporting this panda speaker and when using AA batteries instead of the AC adapter, the belly of this panda could have perhaps been used to store the two extra cable parts. Or for better bass output from this speaker, this belly region could have housed a third passive subwoofer. The 'Accessory Power' company also sells the GOgroove Pal Bot - the Rechargeable & Portable Android Styled Speaker System for Smartphones , Tablets , MP3 Players , Laptops , And More Devices!, and on that portable speaker, a third downward-firing passive subwoofer speaker is used. So it would have been nice if a similar passive subwoofer (e.g. a larger 2.5-inch speaker) could have been added to the belly region of this "Mama Panda Pal" for better bass.

If you want to continue the panda theme for your portable music, also consider getting the Pineapple Panda Sound Isolating Design Crystal Clear Mega Bass Sound Earphone.

This is guaranteed to give the warm fuzzies to children, teenagers, and adults alike. I bought this both for myself and I also purchased additional speakers to give as gifts. Unlike most other desktop speakers that look like electronic computer gear when you are not using it, this Mama Panda Pal looks adorable and fun just sitting on your desktop, nightstand, or kitchen or bathroom counter even when you are not using it.

There are some other portable speakers out there shaped like small panda heads, but some of them are not stereo speakers, they do not sound as nice, and none of them are nearly as adorable and cute as this one. This panda speaker is made in China, the land of the panda. The build quality of this panda speaker is pretty good. It comes with a generous 3-year warranty.

This product came in a GOgroove box contained in an Amazon box and arrived in excellent condition.

You cannot find a simpler stereo system to use - I pulled it out of the box, plugged in the AC adapter, connected the AUX cable and plugged in my Zune.

The sound quality is excellent and there's great control over the volume. I think I would prefer an actual sound button or dial rather than tapping each ear, but it's not a big enough inconvenience to knock down the rating.

I'm even considering getting a smaller version of this for my bedroom at home to replace my old CD player in there. Really worth the money.

This is my 3rd GoGroove product (I own the little tiger head, and smaller panda head speakers) and I'm still in awe of how something so cute could produce such decent sound. Of course it's not a Bose or some other high end, expensive brand, but for the price it's great.

It is larger than the other ones I own, and the sound quality is reflective of this. It's excellent to use in the backyard, the kitchen, den, office area, beach, whatever. The sound is clear, the bass is substantial, the volume is fine, and the distortion at higher levels is minimal.

It comes with an a/c adaptor and also works with 4 AA batteries (not included, but not a big deal- just letting you know). My only disappointment is that I can't use it to charge up my Iphone while in use - unless there's something I haven't figured out yet. And believe it or not that was my main reason for returning 2 other speakers and then buying this one. But the "cute" factor and the great sound trumped the charging issue. There's no way I'd send this Panda back - it'd hurt his feelings.

I got this so that my baby could listen to music during play time/wake time. I like that you can put batteries in it to take on trips. It's easy to plug the IPOD in and I'm using a nano 4th generation. The only downside to this that I can see is that it's not very loud. You use the ears to make the sound go up or down. I had it on the highest it would go and could hear the song but not across the room. It was this way for both CDs I had on the IPOD. Overall I think it will serve the purpose for which I bought it but I had I bought it to listen for myself while cleaning or something I would've returned it since it doesn't go loud enough.

Just got this as a gift and it's so cute! It's bigger than a typical alarm clock, but mostly in height. It's not much bigger than the typical, red number, large screen alarm clocks. I love that it works with any device so I can hopefully use it for more than a year or two! I think the sound is good, but admittedly, I don't really have an ear for the difference between "good" sound and "bad". It all sounds the same to me!
