I've seen reviews that said this was a good drive and others that seem to all but call it demon-spawn, personally I have had no problems with it. I use Linux Mint Version 11 64 Bit and I'm assuming most reviewers are using "Windows". That might be the problem the OS, not the device. Linux has had no problems with this drive there fore I haven't had any either. The thing is I don't Windows any more so I can't compare both OS's (Apples to Oranges as far as I'm concerned, not to be confused with anything from "Cupertino" never liked their stuff, too elitist) but for my money as well as intents and purposes this drive works fine. Very few frizbees generated (1-2) out of 100's of burned disks plays movies quite nicely and data reteiveal
is great. BTW for the record I'm running the drive through a USB hub that supports 7 devices and it's full. Still no complaints! 8-{>

Don't know what else to say. I like this thing.

Hope this helps in you decision making.

Windows 8

Plugged it into the laptop and it worked fine. The only issue is that you can't just plug it in at anytime in windows 8. It has to be plugged in from start up. So far I have no real complaints. Does everything I need a CD/DVD drive to do.
