I needed a Bluetooth GPS and started to read about different products. I found out that Sirf III was something to go for and when i found GR 236 with great specifications i ordered it.

Got it after three days. Minits later i knew where i was! Easy to start and connect to laptop, PDA, whatever bluetooth... Getting signal indoors, on the bus, in the car - I am...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Bad Product
DOA. Could not sync. Tried everything in the manual.
Then searched on the web, it seems this happens often.
Buyer beware.

Getting signal indoors, on the bus, in the car - I am overwhelmed!!

The only thing i have found that could have been even better is the battery capacity. And they could also have sent a neck-string with it.

The GR 236 is definetly a product that I recommend!!

5.0 out of 5 stars GPSlim is PocketPC Must Have, October 9, 2005
This review is from: GPSmile 60 Navigation PDA with US & Canada Map (Electronics)
Let me see.

1. Sirf III chipset
2. Included 850 mAH Li-Ion battery
3. Bluetooth
4. Included AC adapter
5. Included Car adapter
6. The size of a pager.

This little unit is absolutely amazing. I had a GPS for my old Handspring Visor (Magellan) and it was bulky and monochrome. This thing is amazing -- I'm in my 2-story house, and I get a connection, with a whopping 7 satellite lock in less than a minute, and I get it on my nice, big Pocket PC color screen. And the unity cost me only $130 or so (from their website).

The only downside is that the software is relatively weak -- only a status monitor on the Pocket PC. But, I don't care; I use MS Streets & Trips anyway. It would probably be lame, and just add major cost to the unit anyway.

As a computer and tech junkie (I started by programing my TI-58C in the early '80's in the eighth grade, and have worked my way up to an MS in Electrical Engineering) I would wholeheartedly recommend this GPS unit.

Oh, and how easy was it to use? I turned it on, and connected to it on my iPAQ immediately.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best so far..., January 8, 2006
This review is from: GPSmile 60 Navigation PDA with US & Canada Map (Electronics)
I bought this after I tried a pharoas BT GPS receiver w/ TomTom software. I can't say enough good things about the Holux 236. It is small, lightweight, and worked instantly out of the box with my mac and my treo 650. Pairing was a snap, and the receiver acquired 8 satellites inside my house, which also has a fair amount of tree coverage. I've been driving around LA with the receiver placed in my center console of my car and have only lost the GPS connection once... driving in a canyon.

I give this thing two thumbs up.

Also, Buying anything besides SIRF III would be a mistake at this point.

This little unit works flawlessly. Paired effortlessly with my VX6700, and I was navigating with TomTom in minutes. Some of the best features:

-Uses the same battery as a Nokia 6xxx series cell phone, so if the battery dies (as most do after about 3 years), just get a cheap generic replacement.

-Uses mini usb charger (the same type as my PDA), and you can use it as a usb gps is your computer doesn't have bluetooth.

-Great battery life. I have been using it off and on for 3 weeks and have not charged it once.

-Great reception. I can pick up 4 sattelites sitting inside at my desk!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reciever!, January 2, 2008
This review is from: GPSmile 60 Navigation PDA with US & Canada Map (Electronics)
An excellent product. Acquires satellites quickly, even from a cold start. Small size makes it convenient to place in a car or even in your pocket. A long lasting battery and strong bluetooth connection make this a keeper at a bargain price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but....., September 30, 2007
This review is from: GPSmile 60 Navigation PDA with US & Canada Map (Electronics)
I have a Palm treo 650. I loaded up Tom Tom software. The original GPS reciever that came for Palm went bad so I has to replace it with the Holux. It works great, but, sometimes its takes a while to connect to a satellite.

5.0 out of 5 stars you will never be lost again, August 21, 2007
This review is from: GPSmile 60 Navigation PDA with US & Canada Map (Electronics)
When i first bought this product, i was scared because its so cheap it mite not be real and wouldnt work.
at the first when i was tryin to align it, it was afternoon, and i went to top of my houses roof(i m in middle east, its summer so imagine on top of the roof at afternoon when temp goes around 50C) and i did a mistake of truning my Navigon software along with the GPS software provided and it took me a couple of minutes to realize i need to run one software only to make it work. but when i restarted my JASJAR, and started Navigon (ofcourse i paired the devices), it just worked and never gives me less then 9 settelites.
I went to Salalah and it showed me the way and helped me get back home from mountains and deserts even tho Salalah was always cloudy, never saw the blue sky, but still it would get settelites within 15 seconds. unbelivable. too good to be true
