The GPX C998RS boombox is made with durable plastic, providing a rugged design. It delivers an enhanced bass sound with its built-in 5-watt Super Woofer. With two 2.5-watt stereo speakers, this boombox delivers a full 10 watts of speaker power.
The C998RS also features a single-disc CD player with 16 programmable tracks and repeat, skip/search, and random playback modes. The cassette player comes with auto stop and a smooth-eject system. You can record directly from either the CD or AM/FM tuner. The stereo tuner has a built-in AM ferrite-rod antenna as well as an external telescopic FM antenna.
A built-in headphone jack enables private listening (headphones not included). Supplied accessories include a shoulder strap for easy carrying and an AC line cord. This boombox also runs on 10 D batteries (not included). GPX offers a limited 90-day warranty.

I was surprised at how good the sound from this unit actually is, whether from the local FM stations, CD or tape - they all come through with amazing clarity and depth of tone range. The built in subwoofer feature is excellent giving sound a realistic feel both music or baseball commentary come alive. The unit is as rugged as advertised - it has accompanied me during a reroofing project, canoeing, logging and as a bedside stereo, much admired for its looks it has performed faultlessly.

This stereo Sounded Great until one day a channel stopped working. I was upset but my 3 month warranty was just up. Ok. Fine. At least I still have one channel and the Super Woofer left. Until today when they both quit working on me. Now I have to work in silence. I work in construction so the radio had some wear and tear, but I was very careful with it. This radio lasted the shortest length of time than any radio I have ever bought.

I paid ($$$)for this unit brand new. I've only had it for a few weeks it performs nicely so far. The sound is good and it's sporty looking. If you can pick it up for a low price like I did, I highly recomend it.
