A Kid's Review
This review is from: GPX CDP3104 Portable CD Player with 60-Second Anti-Skip Protection (Electronics)
This really should be a 2.5, but I'll be nice.
When you look at the price for this- not even $20- it seems too good to be true. That's fairly low for a CD player. And your instinct is partly right. Pros: ~ Extremely affordable ~ Sleek and portable design (it fits in my coat pocket which was nice) ~ Shuffle mode (I love this feature) ~ HOLD button so it doesn't acidentally turn on ~ Bass Boost ~ CD-R/RW compatable (definately good, considering my old Sony didn't play burned CDs) Cons: ~ Very suckish battery life. My batteries (typically Duracel or Energizer) only lasted 8 hours- and that wasn't even straight. This CD player EATS batteries! My older Sony got at least 15 hours straight. Almost TWICE as much. Maybe I'm the only one with this problem, but you want to be careful with this. ~ Seems to scratch easier, though that might just be me. ~ Opens WAY too easily. The couple times I've dropped this, the CD inside popped out. NOT a good thing, especially if you tend to drop it. ~ If the CD doesn't fall out, the batteries will. But often it's both. ~ Headphones are iffy and annoying, at least for me. You might want to get better ones. ~ This is not the CD to get if you're going to use it and be rough with it a lot. For example, I placed it into my backpack, and the whole lid came off. I was able to snap it back on, but the spring had fallen out, and it was basically impossible to put both back on. Now it doesn't close properly, and unless I wedge something where it used to lock on, it won't play. Totally time I've had this CD player: NOT EVEN 6 months. In conclusion, it's a decent enough CD player for $20, and if you just need something temporary. But if you're looking to have a long relationship with a CD player, this GPX Portable CD player is not for you.

Works Great, Only Few Complaints,

I mainly purchased this GPX CD player to take on the bus at school. First, before I write this review, I must say something very important. AVOID DURABRAND, LENOXX, AND AUDIO SOLUTIONS'S ANTI-SKIP CD PLAYERS! For some reason, THEY SOUND LIKE CRAP!(yeas they all are the same company).
The sound of the GPX is not what a Panasonic or Sony player would have, but it is very good. Very neutral, nothing remarkable but nothing bad. The hold function is a very nice feature, it allows me to keep it in my backpack at school rather than taking it out and taking out the batteries. I can just turn it off and switch on the HOLD button. The CDP3104 also has anti-skip protection, which will make it easy for you to use during active activity. There are many features on the player as well. 20-track programming, allowing you to play your CD in the order it was recieved (uh...telephone answering machines?). It also has repeat play, so you can repeat songs. The random play shuffles your CD to give an effect of, say, an Apple iPod Shuffle. There are only few complaints but they probably won't avoid you from buying. GPX only has a 90-day warranty. This is a bad indictation. If your warranty is only 90-days, don't be too suprised if your GPX CD player stops working, say, less than a year. This isn't a problem for me, since I'm only taking it on the bus which will damage it little to none, but just keep that in mind when purchasing. Also, there is no remote nor is there one avaliable. Other than those complaints, than this player is the #1 choice!

For the first 2 days, this was the best CD player I had ever bought, and at such a price. Then, on the third day, the volume control stopped working completely. It would neither raise nor lower the volume. I wouldn't buy another product from this manufacturer if you paid me.
